Each trench sample is taken every 25m along the Bonanza Vein, and each trench is around 2m deep. Geologists chip or cut rock samples, carefully label and record coordinates, and document each section before sending the samples to CERTIMIN’s lab in Lima for assay testing (to determine gold content and grade).

Depending on the vein’s length, they’ll likely collect hundreds of samples. Once the first batch of results is in, they’ll know where the highest concentrations are. If some results are inconclusive or promising, they may take second or even third follow-up samples to confirm grade consistency.
