(I find it hard to believe that LSE would remove posters just because someone else has registered a complaint without checking out whether the complaint is valid or not.
Has anyone asked LSE about their barring commenters policy?)
I, personally have never reported any post, removing a post I feel is wrong, some spend considerable time to write a post just for some non-invested disrupter to report it, a better way would be to enable apart from the recommended option as in to mark up a post an opposite option as in to mark down a post, ADVFN has the thumbs up and thumbs down option BUT is crucially flawed in that only a fee-paying Premium member has the right to ever mark down a post, the thumbs down button does not work for non-fee paying members and by coincidence, a premium member is very unlikely to ever get permanently removed, unlike here.
I have heard that it takes as few as three report posts if the poster reporting can identify a specific LSE posting rule that has been violated, we have no proof who else reported Lucretius but we do know Spikeyj did as he admitted it, if his mates join in also then that is three report posts, the fact that various others such as DWF have in the past goaded Lucretius and got him previously banned soon adds up and with past suspensions to his name it is easy to see how LSE may have just pulled the plug and permanently banned Lucretius which is not at all fair as Lucretius was a very intelligent gentleman who did not take fools lightly and was easily goaded to respond, unfortunately.
LSE does not have the resources to look back at the previous discussions to come to an opinion on who started what and pulled the first punch, just easier to ban and then multiple bans lead to permanent removal, whether you started it or not!
I hope that helps.
