RE: Very interesting presentation .16 Apr 2025 08:05
Olly there are a couple of ways to look at things. I don't think anyone from the company has explicitly told anyone to invest in the business. However, do they want folks to invest yes of course. The message they conveyed yesterday .. it is their belief the business is currently really undervalued. One could also argue... well they would say this, because it is their job. I can't argue with anyone there. However, I also believe the company is undervalued given the assets we hold but then someone could also argue..I would say this because of the amount of confetti I hold here!!
I am curious Olly, how many shares do you think Martin should own as CEO? Genuine question.
I think 14M is a fair amount for someone who hasn't yet been in the job a year. There is no requirement stating if you take a job as CEO of an AIM Co that you must invest a good chunk of your salary in the same business. Perhaps Martin has a highly diversified portfolio of which ORR is one of many stocks he holds, who knows? His personal portfolio is just that, personal!
On the buying shares point. Perhaps Eileen spoiled us with the amount she bought. I'm grateful to see someone in leadership buy that many shares, it kind of keeps me sane, knowing someone has a few more than I have (in the same boat mentality) Plus it's good to know the Chair is a long term holder. Of course I'd also love to see more buys from insiders purely for selfish reasons. Although when they do buy it doesn't really shift the needle either. When you add up all the shares the insiders own plus the ex CEO it is a decent amount, currently almost 8% of the company based on total voting rights of 3,895,872,338 (last released Jan 24) so hopefully we all get to see some stellar returns if they can get this company back into the "loved" column.
Martin did raise a good point yesterday when quizzed on Alexander - that exploration mining is risky but the rewards can also be exceptional. There is no doubt the territory we are exploring in Cameroon comes with risk, it certainly isn't Australia. So until this gets over the line with hopefully some kind of excellent deal that risk for us will always remain.
