I'm afraid you're right when you discuss the consequences of being ruled by elites whose background is classical and arts education. I have an engineering backround and degree and have lamented the absence of a detailed and meaningful Engineering Strategy. Have you actually read the ours! Lets not forget the fact that M Thatcher was happy to export much of our manufacturing industry decades ago leaving many people to live life on fhe dole, the future would be the service industries - she was a scientist. Only someone with a classics background could lead the country into a position where there is no centralised control of for example the railways. Had there been the whole system could have been computerised and fully automated (driverless trains) more than a decade ago. Much of our goods traffic routed via the railways to transport-hubs and the rest of it. HS2 more collosal waste, speed isnt everything. Can you imagine an Engineer daft enough to give the Russian leadership the opportunity to turn off our fuel supplies and for heavens sake contemplate allowing the Chinese leadership control over Nuclear power generation! National Leadership should be in hands of practical folk with solid practical engineering experience then we light actually get somewhere. Look what Engineers, mostly British by the way, did for Germany after the second world war - they turned it into the powerhouse of Europe. No, being lead by Classics graduates, Politics Graduates and indeed Barristers is far from ideal. Bring on the Engineers, trouble is finding those who be happy to lead the likes of Boris, Mog and their ilk. These days perhaps the only way is to kick the lot of the parisites out and start again with the best of a bad lot, via a Government of National Unity. I honestly think in all modesty I could have done a better job than Boris, but then perhaps most Engineers would have.
