It's been almost 4wks since the last meeting so I'd expect the written replies to questions to be published in a day or two.

I'm surprised they've not been published already as the BoD must be twiddling their thumbs to some degree - 1801 is in the hands of the Australians, 737 is in CPF's hands and 1802 is still undergoing translational studies so with just a jaunt to London for the AngloNordic conference this week, they should've had plenty time to get the answers collated.

Hi PCS - good that you got a pretty prompt reply.

I think there are two things to focus on. First the Chinese research was primarily looking at the use of ultrasound to increase the efficacy of treatment so they may choose to run a similar trial in mice with some drug other than 737 (quite what, I have no idea). Second, the trial's conclusion noted, '...SDT exhibited anticancer activity in combination with SRA737 and DOX-mediated chemotherapy...', thus establishing a clear benefit to using 737 in combo.

So with a positive benchmark using US+737+DOX, they could either carry out further studies primarily using ultrasound and other compounds (though why bother?) or proceed towards in-human trials. And that particular option would probably need some sort of license, yes?

Interesting times ahead.

Thanks BB. I think the patents will add value in the sense that they appear to be a cover-all relating to use of 737 in any form of combo treatment. So although we know of Sierra's Gemcitabine & Cisplatin P1/2 trials, the patents would stop anyone else from running combo trials unless they pay up. Smart business sense on Sierra's part. So now we're approaching a likely on-license or sale and the next owner can be reassured they have the 737 combo treatment market sewn up for the life of the patent(s).

(Well, at least that's my take.)

Forgot to mention, per the ProNai agreement whatever IP Sierra adds is free to use by CPF. However not sure how that translates to CPF on-licensing 737 e.g. would this free use of IP be transferrable to a new licensee or is it a case that only CPF can benefit from the added IP as long as they are the ones carrying out further development?

As SOG alludes, the compound is readily available for purchase from third parties for research so it's impossible to say who else may be working on treatments incorporating 737. I guess SAR or CRUK/CPF might be able to ask the suppliers who is buying their compound and then look for any publications from the labs to see what they're up to.

I have no idea if a lab will contact the compound's owner once they have results to say they'll be publishing details of the study. Even if they don't, I'd hope Tim & John are as capable as C79 et al in scouring the web for anything SAR related - Thoth was quite adamant that the BoD sometimes read comments here (goodness knows what they make of some of them). Certainly the interested parties looking to on-license or buy 737 will have looked further afield than just the Sierra trials for info on its potential.

If anyone wants to ask the BoD if they are aware of the Chinese research then it certainly wouldn't hurt to drop 'em a line.

And just to add, there are some here who say it's no longer about the science or that posting research papers doesn't change the sp. My reply would be, without knowing what scientists are discovering about our compounds, how would you decide if the sp represented fair value and therefore should you invest here?

A fair response to that may be, 'but the BoD should've known about this and released an RNS!' Okay, but do you think the Chinese group would look at the results and immediately say, 'good work, let's phone Tim'? Just remember, last summer 737 was with Sierra. Did they know about the trial results?

Celtic - 2016? The link I posted was from July '22. The report may have been previously overlooked by others as it doesn't contain SRA737 in the title so wouldn't be easy to find if just doing a more straight forward internet search.

Ahfam - no, this is not the combo with Gemcitabine. This is using 737 with a chemo treatment (Doxorubicin) and ultrasound in mice.

One4 - It looks like our patent for SRA737 was granted in China in July 2016.

Hi Leggster, although the CTN review is pretty quick, the trial has to get the go-ahead first from the ethics commitee and that can take 1-3mths so it could be mid-May before news drops.

Regarding 737, any update could also be well over a month away. There are so many factors to consider e.g. how many companies are talking to the CPF? Are all parties still interested after reviewing all the data? If one company thinks their main competitor is also interested then how agressively will they persue 737 to get it? Are they looking to on-license or buy outright? If they're looking to on-license from CPF, will they want to buy out our entitlement to revenues? What if they want 737 and are also interested in getting their foot in the door with 1802?

Hi SOG - Yes, it's difficult to know how much of the deterioration in an individual's condition could be attributed to the treatment they've recieved prior to being given 737. If your system has already been battered by other drugs then it might just be too late in the game for 737 to be beneficial. As most here will be aware, the 737 studies have been in patients who have no other route and so expectations should be tempered. I think John or Tim has said 737 would be most effective if given at the right stage of disease. I'll try to dig out the quote later when I have more time.

I think 737 could still be used as a monotherapy, but only if patients are given it at an earlier stage of diagnosis. Perhaps SAR investors should also invest in developers of screening tests!
