I see Riverfort's sp is down 19% today. Wow, talk about a death spiral. Maybe Puma could pop along there and sort things out for them.

Aber - I don't want to come across as a Parker apologist but none of us here knows what gets said at SAR HQ and unless you've got concrete proof that all blame should be dropped at Parker's feet then we just have to grin and bear it. As a non-exec chairman, he wouldn't have the power to dictate what the business does re funding etc. etc.

Looking at Parker's resume would suggest he's not to be written off even though the current sp is pants - "Dr Stephen Parker has a career in the healthcare and pharma sector that spans over 35 years, including 10 years in the City in advisory roles. He has sector corporate finance experience having been an investment banker focusing on pharma and biotechnology with Barings, Warburg and Apax Partners and has previously held roles as a partner at Celtic Pharma and chief financial officer of Oxford GlycoSciences. He holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University and an MBA from City University Business School."

If he was over in Germany for meetings outwith the Bio conference then let's see what transpires (if anything).

Hindsight is a wonderful thing so are you just projecting frustration with yourself onto Parker? Maybe it's time to wear big boy pants and ask yourself a few probing questions. As for needing someone like Thoth to tell you how to attempt to replace a BoD member, I'm sure you could find out for yourself.

Hi Potnak - and don't forget Merck's Global HQ is in Munich. Merck are currently tasking Physiomics with pre-clinical and clinical modelling and simulation of anti-cancer regimens involving combinations of DNA damage/repair agents - Physiomics carried out work on 737 for us. I think Physiomics are also at the event this week.

Whilst Japanese engineering may be admired widely, their approach to business can be damaging to say the least - read about the Olympus debacle.

Looks like the patent was initially refused on 1st Sept, the BoD responded on 13th Oct and the Japanese Patent Office said "fair enough" on 26th Oct. so no mucking about.

If labs didn't think 737 still had potential, they wouldn't be using it in their research. Although the Nature article below, "CTPS1 is a novel therapeutic target in multiple myeloma which synergizes with inhibition of CHEK1, ATR or WEE1" isn't open access, we can at least see who wrote it and which company they're tied to - Step Pharma.

Perhaps completion of the 1802 translational studies will be the tipping point for things to start happening here.

We know 737 shows great promise for 'in combo' treatments and 1801 appears to be moving along as planned towards completion of its safety profile & confirmation of the biomarkers required to indicate which diseases it might treat. So maybe the final piece of the Sareum puzzle needed by big pharma is knowing which cancers 1802 will potentially target. Once we reach that stage then the pipeline is (in some sense) complete and that could be the point at which a prospective buyer knows if they want to initiate a take over or not.

I get what you're saying, Warthog.

It's probably fair to say one of the reasons the business operates as it does is to keep costs as low as possible. Outsourcing various elements of development allows the BoD to (hopefully) pick and choose the best labs to do the work Tim & John can't do themselves. The main drawback of this is the time it takes to get things done. The alternative would be to have more staff with the associated costs and therefore a greater need to raise more and more money to pay wages etc. Why employ staff when you might only utilise them for, say, a month at a time? Yes, you could maybe get your team to take on other companies' work when they're not focused on your own compounds but that takes more effort and what if the work doesn't come in?

It'd be great to know all that goes on at SAR HQ but we just have to accept there are many things that could work against us if they became public knowledge. That goes for every company and imagine if the govt. announced every crazy policy idea they ever considered!

We just have to grit our teeth and wait it out or sell up. If 737 was dead in the water, they'd have to announce it had been shelved. Despite not being at the negotiating table, the BoD will know if there's hope for 737 or not.

Evening Seawolf, so when the BoD attend conferences and talk to other companies, you expect them to announce every meeting to the world? If I'm looking for a quote from a tradesman, I don't tell them which other businesses I'm talking to. If you play poker, a good strategy is to never let other players see your hand.

As I mentioned on a previous thread, Merck are currently waiting on Physiomics providing data from their modelling and simulation of anti-cancer regimens involving combinations of DNA damage/repair agents. As Physiomics worked on 737 for us, it's not too much of a leap to think 737 may be one of the agents being used in the modelling.

It's a 3mth contract (announced at the end of Aug) so Merck should have the results by December.

IF (massive if) 737 is involved in the simulations and the results suggest 737 would be effective in combo with one of Merck's drugs, could we see an RNS in Dec to announce a 737 deal?

A deal would certainly brighten the AGM but don't hold your breath.
