RE: Look to the future!25 Oct 2024 19:01
Just thinking aloud. What if Krone's find, Treeline Bioscience, wanted to buy us out? They are currently hiding their pipeline from view and so I presume they'd want some anonymity if they put forward a T/O offer.
One question is, would knowing who an offer was from feature in your decision to accept or reject it or would it simply come down to the size/terms of the offer? My point being, if an offer came from a major pharma, we might know roughly how deep their pockets are so that could give some confidence to reject an offer on the assumption they could afford to up their bid. Whereas we wouldn't have that luxury if an unknown pharma made the offer - is that the best they can do and it's a straight take it or leave it, one-time offer?
Another question is, could Treeline (or similar) make a binding offer under an NDA that says if we run and prove 1801 is safe under extended tox studies (no chance of a black box warning), then they'll offer £x? However if 1801 throws up tox issues the offer is null and void.
Even T&J's fiercest critics would probably agree they're not the type to blab about potential deals etc. but that doesn't mean people working for lawyers etc. have the same level of discretion. Allegedly. Large trades ahead of forward look statement, cough cough, large trades, cough cough.
