Just for a bit of perspective, assuming you did have tk move them to a traditional account and pay tax it wouldn't actually be that bad. you get 2k of dividend tax free on top of your 12k allowance for income, then it's taxed at 8.75 percent up to the higher rate at about 50k. So if you were to retire with say a 10k dividend from poly you'd only pay probably £360 tax. That's assuming 8k state pension and 10k dividend of which 4k would be taxed at 8.75. Of course you might earn a lot more than that but I'm not bothered too much about tax once I'm earning 50k per year.
