Tatty it could just be that most that own HUI own PHE so they've just moved from HUI to PHE because of the latest RNS. I would buy more HUI but I'm calling it quits on this whole thing and just sticking with what I own for better or for worse.

Unfortunately it's a political game right now and the government want a scapegoat for huge inequality and high cost of living. Instead of taxing across the board which would cost them money, they can specifically target oil as a big political grandstand. Absolutely corrupt to the core, both labour and conservatives.

Agree 100% this share keeps me up at night but that's what I signed up for. I think it will be fine in the end but just not sure exactly how or when. Once I get a nice Juicy dividend I'll be able to rest knowing everything is good.

Good point proctor. The thing I don't get about all this is that unexpected profit came straight after unexpected losses. No oen was trying to bail out oil companies during the crash.
I'm actually quite left wing and in favour of taxation of wealth but it needs to be consistent. Randomly going after certain sectors just seems chaotic and stupid. There needs to be a methodical approach to it so that we can maintain stability. Why don't the government take charge of prices by creating their own hedge on prices, that same way energy companies do?
It just seems to me like the government are happy to give control to the private sector but then they complain about the result.
I'm almost certain this windfall tax is just a PR stunt and they'll soon remove it. Wouldn't be surprised if Rishi hasn't bought a few shares himself knowing they will go up when he cuts the windfall tax. It's all corruption and passing the buck.

I think you can also just trade them up for certificates and then you'll be contacted directly by mail and dividends paid directly to your bank. You'll have to sort out the tax but I'd imagine HMRC will be more than happy to advise you, or alternatively just pay an accountant to sort it.

Fusion has been something that has always been theoretically possible but is ultimately very difficult to harness. I'll not be holding my breath for it.

I think BlackRock just cares about getting a return on their investment. Investment banks aren't exactly cool in the so called woke world anyway so I doubt they care. I'd say their more worried about the government sanctions than the opinion of woke vegans.

It could be a nouf like you say though. I think China will be rallying Putin's other allies to support a peace settlement. I noticed when they first went down this like the Belarusian leader was one that they spoke to first. Lukashenko strikes me as a man that basically likes being where he is, but also wants an easy life so can thus be manipulated. China will get him on, combined with the general dissatisfaction from other countries like Kazakhstan China will look to consolidate these countries into an anti war coalition of sorts. I think overall China will be looking to improve their overall soft power at the expense of Russia, whilst still appearing as allies.
Maybe all this Taiwan stuff is just a distraction from China's real goal which is to basically takeover the region politically, and push the US and EU out. Russia/Putin are basically creating ideal conditions for China to act as the more reasonable partner and Russia are basically reliant on China so they can't really resist. Russia has evaded western sanctions but has now become dependent on China to survive.

I think they're doing little tests right now to either divert Russian forces for a main assault or just trying to find a weak spot.
Can't see the war lasting till winter. I reckon by the end of summer peace talks will be well underway.

My view in it Jotom is that there has never been a communist country, there have been communist tribes pre slavery but as far as countries are concerned there have only been socialist or hybrid capitalist countries ran by communist governments. In other words the country is ran by a government with communist goals but the country is not communist because communism is not supposed to have a state or money. Marxist theory states that capitalism is a stage of society that arose during the industrial revolution. Marxist theory says that socialism is the next stage after capitalism and that communism is the final stage. Society is not a fixed thing and just like the dictionary it changes over time. For example years ago child labour was commonplace but now it is considered diabolical. Humans can chose their future and I consider that to be a good thing wether they chose capitalist or socialist ideals. Any idea taken to extreme can lead to great suffering. When people start thinking of "the greater good" via any ideology, you tend to get wicked behaviour. If you were to ask me my current stance, I think a mixed economy is probably the best idea for our current technology level. Which is basically what most countries have. The private and public sectors both have advantages and disadvantages and I see no reason to be dogmatic.

Jotom I'd day China, North Korea, Cuba. Although to some extent that is irrelevant to my comment because it's not important what communism, socialism or capitalism are, what is important is that capitalist countries don't want people to lose faith in the capitalist model. Randomly confiscating assets causes a crisis of faith. How can you expect people to work hard and build their wealth if it could all of a sudden be taken away? Faith in the system is very important it's what allows currencies to have value.

This pretty much sums up what my logic was in this regard. Capitalist countries would have to undermine their own system. They have to maintain this idea of property rights because their whole system is based on it. If they go against that fundamental principle people will lose faith in the system and it lends legitimacy to communist ideals.

Whilst I understand the sentiment it's completely the wrong way to go about it. What annoys me is they want everything to be private but then bring in these crazy taxes. Either embrace privatisation or just have the state take control.

It's the same as on another share I hold, people are expecting big projects to pop up in a few months but really it takes years. As I said to them, think about how long it takes to biy a house and that's just buying a small building that already exists! The legal aspects of these big projects must be insane.
