Speaking as someone who has worked at some of the best Engineering companies in the UK - yes they did - all the way through my working career from 1980 onwards. The only inward investment into our manufacture I have seen all came from he foreign investments right wingers claim is so wonderful - but it just ends up exporting our IP to create foreign jobs and foreign wealth. The city of London knows this - that is why they don't invest in this country. That is why the only benefit we do get from foreign investment long term is student money used to prop up a vanity housing market which means the very people who could survive and thrive and make our industries survive and thrive either escape abroad or wither on the vine. RIP post industrial Britain. Welcome success for people like Richie green card non Dom super rich wifey PM.
Yep exponential in the US today...
Its been top winner in the FTSE 100 for the last month and its considered by many as a technology company like all those sold off on the Nasdaq yesterday. I agree that letting customers down is poor form but it's also a fair comment to say they are busy and hiring. My expectation is the Nasdaq bounces back this afternoon and Ocado settles down at somewhere slightly higher between yesterdays slot and todays low (now in) of the next few days until data after Christmas. Stick around long enough and good things will happen. Look at the Nasdaq year on year on growth and note Ocado and Rolls Royce are the only two big winners and understand that is because they have technology innovation unlike all the other great dodos in this finance obsessed country.
Shocked it fallen so far today when coppers going the other way...
And gold already booming - what does the market fear most - banks or China ?
How does the dollar do if China attacks Taiwan ? Where does money find safety then - in the dollar - don't think so. IMHO gold goes through the roof at that point - back to historic highest multiples - at a guess a 500% rise. JMHO.
Yep coal back up and US gas down again - the two normally move in step with each other so I definitely think this is about will they or won't they actually give us some gas and stop pretending their LNG export facility isn't functional.
Im wondering if we have a rumour about the US actually deciding to send us some LNG as US gas prices are up and we are down here and after US Gas prices being shorted out of all existence that seems significant. UK gas prices basically unmoved. Coal down 7.7%so...
And therefore coal and therefore TGA
So US connotes to centrally short gas and oil and wow is that going well for them squashing inflation pressures. However jobless claims are lower than expected suggesting interest rates are going to keep going up. Higher interest rates and shorted gas and oil will be bad for the price of coal and therefore TGA - when does this end - well the whole idea is the Fed and US won't tell anyone but I would have thought not for a while yet. I can't see how non farms will help tomorrow. If employment is up that will encourage the central government shorting of oil and gas ny state sponsored marketing supply boosts. If employment numbers are down that will just mean decreasing engagement in the employment market which will encourage the fed to try and starve people back into working and out of retirement. Both sound bad for short term prospects here. Even Putin has thrown in his boot with a joke of a cease fire. I guess sit is right now with minimum optimism and maximum threat that its a good time to buy gas gold and oil ?
I like the comparison with Vietnam but would use the comparison with Afghanistan. The real concern Russia should have had was it had "done" Afghanistan and expected to get a different outcome in Ukraine. As soon as it was clear there was no supporting populist uprising it should have realised there was no cause to support. But then did it ever think there was ? Still who are we to talk. We went into Afghanistan twice and had the same outcome both times.
OK but the price og LNG this morning says it won't stay that way.
This looks suspiciously like short covering to me. Makes sense. At the rate we were dropping we would have been off the coupon by COP27.
