Excellent article in Weekend FT documenting ASOS and Boohoo ripping up Centuries of Retail heritage, through their collective acquisitions of distressed UK fashion brands.

Bid approach from two potential bidders this morning - Spotlight Brands, and Go Global Retail.

Go Global is acquiring brands via their Global Brand platform, with a view to developing Brands Globally via Digital Channels.

Spotlight Brands is a recent venture with $500M to target fast growing Brands with a Value of $50-$100m.

It's clear that Funds are now actively looking at potential acquisitions, as the Vaccination programme rolls out.

Volatility auction.

The Market Cap is still modest at these levels.

Plus, I cannot imagine Mr Marks giving this away for nothing.

On further investigation, 2618911 shares traded on 3 Feb at £2.0346 which I suspect is the bulk of the increase in holding.

We've yet to have a firm bid at £1.05 yet.

Not usually an investor in such companies however this has caught my eye, and I have to say it looks promising.

They clearly have a game plan and are certainly not messing around here.
The other thing to note is that with such a small float left out there now, the price could potentially squeeze up rapidly should another buyer enter the market.

The shares are simply being priced on a potential bid at £1.05 and not a firm bid at £1.05.
I wouldn't for a minute expect them to trade above 95 for instance, as the risk /reward just wouldn't stack up.

Carlsberg will be well aware of proceedings, but as Fairdealer pointed out, they are primarily a Brewer, and unlikely to be interested in the Estate.

The usual route would be for a scheme of arrangement, rather than buy stock in the open market.

As a Shareholder looking to the long term, I would rather stick with the prospect of an imminent recovery, than being mugged off by Private Equity's latest rendition of a Sale and Leaseback deal. Very rarely do they end well.

I think the question is 'What can Private Equity offer, that the current BOD cannot'?

The recovery in Business will happen, I suspect sooner rather than later. That recovery will be spectacular. Not just in Hospitality, but across the board.
Pubs, Restaurants will be rammed, and people will have money to spend.
You want a Holiday when we get the all-clear? Can you imagine the scrummage at the major Airports?
So, given that the 'pent up demand' will arrive at some point, the Private Equity crew will in my eyes at least have to pay up to be part of it.
Private Equity though would need to pay the right price, so this will be one hell of an exercise in pricing a Business with minimal sales at this point in time, while being attractive enough to shareholders to jump ship early.
