A growing number of Federal Reserve officials and Wall Street economists are opening the door to more than the forecast three interest rate rises this year as the US central bank strives to stamp out soaring inflation.

Senior policymakers and private sector forecasters have laid the groundwork for “lift-off” of the main policy rate from zero as early as the March policy meeting. They cite fresh evidence that inflation — running at its highest pace in nearly 40 years — is broad and rising, and further signs that the labour market is rapidly recovering.

Wells Fargo shares rose on Friday after the bank posted quarterly revenue that exceeded analysts’ expectations and a significant jump in profit.

Shares of the bank climbed more than 2% in premarket trading following the earnings announcement.

"Is there any way I can find out what dividends Lloyds are expected to announce for 2022?"
Expectation is Final 2021 dividend will be minimum 1.34p, payable in May, taking total dividend for 2021 to 2.01p (interim dividend 0.67p already paid in September 2021). Share holders are also hopeful of a special dividend and share buyback as well in addition to final dividend but we have to wait for Final Results on 24th February for confirmation of amount of dividends and buybacks. Then going forward, 2.01p should be the base from which all going well progressive dividends should rise annually so 2022 total dividend should be in excess of 2.01p all going well. We have to wait for interim results due 27/07/22 for details of Interim Dividend payable in September, and final results due February 2023 for details of Final Dividend for 2022, payable in May 2023.

Look on the positive..........we seem to be clear of 50p finally!

I propose the BBC should run a special edition show of "Have I got news for you". They should invite Frankie Boyle to be the celebrity presenter, and invite Boris Johnson as celebrity panellist to team up with Ian Hislop, and Prince Andrew as celebrity panellist to partner Paul Merton. Now that would be some show with record viewing figures for the show!

Well given Boris has now admitted he was at the "work gathering" lol, what's the odds he will still be PM on Monday morning next week? He will have to "face the music and dance" now; can he blag his way out of it? Will the Bullingdon old boys network sort it out for him? I think his back bench MP's will seal his fate.

Looks like the SP will be static around this level now +/- 53p until the next driver for SP which could get it moving again will be 3rd February when BOE MPC hold their next scheduled meeting to discuss base rate, another rise in base rate should see another tick up. Probably the the biggest driver for SP movement though will then be final results day 24th February when we finally find out what the plan is for cash distributions to share holders. You do need to have the patience of a Saint to be invested here!

All new houses should be built with a human sized hamster wheel connected to a dynamo and all connected to the National Grid. Everyone in the household must the do a 30 minute workout twice daily, in morning before going to work and in evening. Will reduce pressure on NHS, will reduce everyone's energy bills, energy produced is green. Global warming reversed in 10 years. Simples!

That is completely the wrong logic to justify that those who make the rules can break them without being held to account! If our leaders cannot follow the rules they make and expect everyone else to follow then they are not fit to hold office and MUST be held to account! Our politicians must LEAD BY EXAMPLE! Nothing less! How can we expect people to follow the rules if those that make them don't, and are seen to get away with it!

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell says inflation is a 'severe threat' to the economy and will raise interest rates to stop the surge in prices.
Powell, a Republican, has been nominated by President Biden for another term chairing the Fed.
He made the admission at a hearing for the confirmation of his second term before the Senate Banking Committee.
'If we have to raise interest rates more over time, we will,' Powell said.
Powell also said that the economy no longer needs emergency stimulus, but said it would take time for the Fed to get back to pre-pandemic interest rates.

Mass vaccination and past waves of infection mean the UK may be closer than other countries to emerging from the coronavirus pandemic and Covid becoming a more manageable disease, a leading public health expert has said.

Prof David Heymann, a distinguished fellow in global public health at Chatham House and former chair of the UK Health Protection Agency, said immunity in the UK seemed to have reached a sufficient level to prevent widespread severe illness from Covid, though he stressed it was impossible to rule out more virulent variants in the future.

“Probably in the UK, it’s the closest to any country of being out of the pandemic, if it isn’t already out of the pandemic, and having the disease as endemic as the other four coronaviruses,” Heymann told a Chatham House webinar today. The other coronaviruses he referred to have been around for centuries and are among the many viruses that cause common colds.

The whole country was under pressure! If they are expected to follow the rules those that make them must also do so. And anyone who does not want to be under the media magnifying glass 24/7 should not take on the job of PM. Because they are in the spotlight they must set the example for the public to follow; how can we expect the public to abide by the rules if those that make them do not.

Aside from that I agree with you that the BBC are often guilty of "sensationalist journalism".

What has the BBC got to do with the PM and several other high ranking members of the Government breaking the COVID rules that he and his party made up which everyone else in the country had to follow?
