I really dislike these Primary Bid offers - released after market close, closed in just over 2 hours (and they usually recommend any one taking up the offer to seek professional advice!) You have to pay with a debit card, so you have to have money available in your bank account, and you find out about it after banking hours. You can't put the shares in your ISA. Existing shareholders have to be lucky to find out about it. There are so many issues which could be unfriendly to existing retail shareholders. I am going to write to the company and complain & request they never use such a process again.

I strongly urge all other shareholders who do not like it to write to the company too.

What's the rush when they've got over £100m in net cash anyway?

Hargreaves Lansdown produced an article on Friday listing the FTSE100's top 5 ESG stocks. I was amazed to find BAT there. The other 4 were Astra Zeneca, Glaxo, Glencore, & Coca Cola

"At least the tax payer will be better off." - we'll still be paying for the service, it's just being provided in a different way.

Thanks very much for the replies. I know I was being over simplistic but IO was doing so to get the kind of informative replies which you gave. In the short term I'm not too worried about inflation - high unemployment seldom produces high inflation; and we're likely to have that for some time. Besides are really high inflation rates a thing of the past in this country? They've been low for a very long time. Maybe 3% is high inflation!

Initially it sounds like good business - borrow at 2%, buy a property yielding 5% (today's acquisition.) But obviously there will be some on going maintenance and running costs to come out of that 3% differential. So if they are making less than 3% on a deal, how do they keep paying a 5% yield?

Results seemed good, response to article seemed comprehensive, but the market is not impressed. I can't see any reason. I added this morning.

My guess is the virus; and I'm surprised it's taken this long to come about. I saw a couple of discussions on the virus over the weekend, and one said "China is effectively in lockdown." Whilst I am sure it is still possible to get goods in and out of China, no matter where in China they are made it is going to be a more complicated process; and commercial plane & ship operators will be cutting down on their services there (& doubtless having to pay inflated wages to staff on these vessels.) This means for Luceco to get their goods out of China the process will be more complicated, more expensive and take longer.
I am disappointed in Luceco's management. I wrote to them as a shareholder and suggested a statement about the effect the virus was having on their business would be appropriate. It's up to the BoD whether or not they do that, but I did expect an acknowledgement, which I have not received.

Has anyone got any views on how the Corona Virus is likely to affect ANP's business. Obviously they do a lot in China; and mentioned in today's update their focus on Poultry in China; but did not mention it. On Bloomberg this morning I saw a story which said chicken in Wuhan are running out of feed because of the restrictions in movement around the area. I'm not sure that it should have any major effect, as the people in China still need to eat, so getting regular supplies of healthy animal feed will still be needed.
Otherwise the update seemed to be steady progress.

The more I think about the situation in China the more concerned I am in the short term. Even if Luceco's factory is no where near the Coronavirus centre, 6 major airlines (at the last count) have stopped ALL flights to & from mainland China. So all forms of transport to & from China as well as insurance prices are going to rise, i.e. best scenario is a significant but hopefully temporary increase in transport costs. It's quite probable that supplies will be affected; and Luceco have spent a lot of effort over the last year in reducing stock levels. With every intention of getting back in I have now sold all my shares.

This site may be an improvement on anything else I've found for discussion boards, but I can't say it really excites me.
My interest in Luceco? I've been a shareholder for 2 years. My best purchase was at 45p. Recently taken some profits.
Although I was pleased with the recent update, I won't be adding any till the virus has stopped spreading.

I don't want to put a dampener on all this positive sentiment, but does anyone know where Luceco's manufacturing base is in China? I've had a look at their website and don't get anything more than "China." Given China is increasingly in lock down over the Coronavirus, this could be a serious problem.
