I suppose it's possible to get a rough idea if the At Home trial was showing clinical benefit (even though double blind) but I imagine the 'we know it works' stems more from his understanding of the mechanics of the drug and years of research and asthma/copd/covid phase 2 studies. He doesn't know if the upcoming trials are going to be successful but you can be damn sure he's expecting them to be.

Would be good to get a bit more meat on the bone but our £45 an article Nadia is once again banging the drum for SNG - helpful to have positive articles at the top of google search I suppose

Over the past few months we were subjected to one of the most illiterate, angry and downright disruptive members to ever grace this bb. It wasn't easy to decipher but amongst the rants and abuse the poster attempted to ramp a company called ocugen. Now I'm sure not a single one of you spent even a second looking into the investment and would have had more chance of being won over by your pet cat but amazingly since December it has 15 bagged, rising to a 27 bagger today, hilarious!

Whatever happens, however effective Ox/Az turns out to be against severe disease, the conversation is going to increasingly turn to how to deal with variants besides relying on adjusted vaccines. Anyone think we might find those three letters S N and G popping up on our google search more regularly soon?

South Africa suspends use of Oxford vaccine
South Africa will suspend use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab in its vaccination programme while scientists advise on the best way to proceed, the country’s health minister said on Sunday in comments reported by Reuters.

Zweli Mkhize was speaking after trial data showed the AstraZeneca vaccine offered only limited protection against mild disease caused by the 501Y.V2 coronavirus variant first identified in South Africa.

Researchers have warned that vaccines’ focus needs to shift from population immunity to protecting individuals from hospitalisation and death.

“These findings recalibrate thinking about how to approach the pandemic virus and shift the focus from the goal of herd immunity against transmission to the protection of all at-risk individuals in population against severe disease,” said Prof Shabir Madhi from the University of the Witwatersrand, who led the Oxford/AstraZeneca trial in South Africa. The data will be published in the coming days.

It's a pretty non consequential error compared to thinking activ 2 is a leading drug candidate!

Yeah fair enough. Those conversations with vague predictions are not enough to prove it's late but from those conversations I did expect the official announcement to be about the first week of February.

It's two weeks since the Activ 2 rns, about three weeks since the last patient was dosed in the home trial and coming up to four weeks since the start of p3 (just in the UK).

There were still about 10 times the deaths in the 60-69 range than in the range the small study tested against, plus it can be assumed that the older and more vulnerable South Africans have been taking more precautions. As far as I'm aware every variant is more deadly the older you are even if some are a little more dangerous to the young than others...

In other words good news for us? We don't want to be added to another trial if they deem our current trials as sufficient to prove effectiveness and receive approvals...

Org I very much agree with you but I think a lot of the vaccine chat on here stems from the difficult month or so we had as synairgen investors following the initial pfizer news, with sng all but seemingly written off as a necessity when that was never the case. As investors in synairgen it makes sense to highlight the issues with the vaccines and gthe aps in the market it will leave so new folk to this bb are able to see the strong investment case here.
