The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Perhaps my point is being misunderstood, I appreciate there are many people / companies capable of testing wastewater but as with all industries, I should imagine that amout of people is relative to the demand? Not to many wastewater testers sitting on the bench?
To date the demand (again relative and in comparison to other industries) has been low... to suddenly want maybe 1000's of planes tested each and every day? That's a lot of people, equipment, logistics and organising for a relative small industry to take on.... its certainly where I would say some technology and automation could come in very very handy!
OK thanks for letting us know, bye bye.
Upder £10 million Mcap for a company in this sector is peanuts.
An established long term contract or two (yes easier said than done) and ABDX will be valued in the same region as other diagnostics companies which is in the 100's of millions.... things can move very quickly!
Yes good post 13thmonkey,
Testing waste water on plains is all over the news, several countries now doing it, planing to do it or thinking about it.
This could be DVRG's moment!
At the end of the day waste water testing is still a very small industry, how many people are qualified to take samples and go test them in a lab somewhere?
Now if you want to test many plains, in many airports in many countries (this on top of normal day to day testing already happening) is there enough skilled people in this field out there?
Time for DVRG to ramp up a PR and get selling the solution!
Yes and news on Covid is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
I read the new verient in China has a R number between 10 to 18! That's mental! So if someone has it they are likely to pass it on to between 10 to 18 other people, all who will do the same... this one will rip though all 8 billion of us in no time!
Not nothing Pumpkey, it's all about sentiment in the testing sector not just next few days but next few months a year's (it what good investing is meant to be about)
Are current news events suggesting contagious diseases will be tested more or less in the future? That more investment, or less will go into them, that world health is in a better or worse place than before?
It's a good time to get into the testing sector.
Yeah make thatnow 7.8 to Sell, and still not letting me buy a single share @ 8p!
6.88 to sell and negotiate order to buy....where will this end up today? Its going to be an interesting one.
A HNY to all,
Wad, we are probably both right, just you are looking at the next few weeks and I am looking at the next few years.
Do you see a world where LFT's will be used more in future or less?
It's a big growing industry with no signs of slowing accompanied with the added potential to expand incredibly fast, infact exsplode! (I.e another pandemic or new covid veriant of concern) at any one moment in time.
If you are looking for a good long term investment then a company with 14 years exsperiance in this fast growing, very (world saving) important field, currently valued at near to cash in company bank prices..... I'm saying a very good punt but be patient.
If you want to triple your money in the next two weeks,,,, maybe?....but probably not.
Wadogara,
Per my last post, (for me) it not about how many tests ABDX do or do not sell during this current news event. Its the fact testing is back, yes smaller than before but back! and it will come back again, and again!....Each and every health scare the world has from now on, real, political it doesn't matter as the world now knows these things can be tested, so to make it real or it is... why are we not testing?
There are now over 8billion humans meaning all contagious diseases (listed in my last post) can spread easier and better than ever before.
New ones will come, old ones will come back (already happening) and the short and long term answers (yes vaccines as well) is to test and slow or stop it.
The rise is either, or should be about what is likely for the next 'X' years not next few trading days.
I think some may be missing the point with what is going on this week. Its not just some Chinese people needing to do a covid test, its the fact it's become a go to. Pre covid no one would have even considered testing (maybe a screen temperature test at best). We now all know testing properly for something is a thing, and a thing that should be done if possible. The world will keep going back to it time and time again every time they see a risk... forever!....
It's a Ggood time to be in the testing business IMO, because if you are going to test for covid why not other deadly infectious disease as well eg....
Chickenpox
Common cold
Diphtheria
E. coli
Giardiasis
HIV/AIDS
Infectious mononucleosis
Influenza (flu)
Lyme disease
Malaria
Measles
Meningitis
Mumps
Mpox
Poliomyelitis (polio)
Pneumonia
Rocky mountain spotted fever
Rubella (German measles)
Salmonella infections
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
Sexually transmitted diseases
Shingles (herpes zoster)
Tetanus
Toxic shock syndrome
Tuberculosis
Viral hepatitis
West Nile virus
Whooping cough
The future is here!
The question to wonder, for a virus's we are ment to not worry too much about (so long as you get those jabs) anymore is why, the USA see a need to test Chinese travellers? For me it's one of 3 things..
1) politics, just be a pain, because you can
2) concerned they could? bread and spread a new more deadly veriant.
3) They already see data where 2) is already happened or looks like a very viable possibility.
Sorry I know it's all a bit doomey but it's why I got in here and have stayed. As much as they all think they can , politicians and journalists don't get to decide when covid is done... it here forever!..gives us clue to weather we will have a bad period (like flu) with it again or not??
When it gets bad we all know it can be tested so will all exspect nothing more...this is a cycle for life!
If a share was/can be worth £1.30 then it can work its way back to 70p (around half way) surly not too out there thought... I don't smoke anything now days but we were all young once...you seem a guy who could benefit from a little smoke Pumpky, maybe it would cheer you up a bit?!...would need to be very strong stuff though.
They won't if they think it will get to 70p and more Pumpky.
I'm expecting 7p+ to be hit in days not years.
They had a bad year last year but still brought £2.8 million through the door.
Contract servicing means you don’t need to pay for many of your staff, your client pays for them and pays you a cut (profit) on top of that sum as well.
Bad days are over, onwards and upwards (including the SP) from here.
There is a simple explanation for me. The Contract servicing, they were focusing on has improved and with it their cash turnover has increased. They have also cut costs to get to their priority…profit! and are nearly there.
They still plan on investing in developing their own tests so even with a brake even cash turnover the £4million is needed to complete their growth plans.
They had £4.4 million at the end of October and will have £4.3 million at the end of December. There is next to no cash burn!
Not sure what you guys are reading but I'm reading they have as good as cleared cash burn, basically already nearly in profit (priority) with "a growing pipeline of work". . Great news and making sure those making the big calls have good insensitive to work hard and make things happen is good business!
The Market for it is small but there. I would say the main purchasers will be concerned Mums and Dads getting them for their 18 to 20 something daughters when they start getting into the going out clubbing scene.....we were all young once.
The Simply Abingdon site is currently too low in Google search lists, they should have just stuck with their main AbingdonHealth site as that already came on the first page of Google when searching 'covid test' but there you go.
I guess even Amazon etc were once low down on Google lists, all site start at the bottom and need to work up. There is not a mass of competition in this sector so hopefully it can work up the list fairly quickly.
I didn't see the ITV 2 program last night, I will get it on catch up later. Did anyone watch it and was there much on STC?
