I do not know how any real progress will be made without PCR. LFTs are cheaper and quicker, but not reliable, and any positive test found on an LTF test needs backing up with a PCR, so it is unlikely that PCRs are going to be redundant anytime soon..not unless GM pulls another rabbit out of the hat of course. What might help in a bizarre way now, is with the virus being so rampant at the moment, maybe herd immunity might help slow things down in a while, not saying this with any medical knowledge, but we might get to a point were the infection rate naturally slows down once we get into spring time. I am only thinking this due to the number of people at my workplace who had caught covid, but was only found by testing, no real symptoms apart from fatigue.
