RE: 100kW soon!!29 Nov 2022 21:16
We are all wondering how the 100kW (due before year end) and 200kW (due early 2023) are coming along, but nobody has mentioned the 600kW.
AFC systems are modular, which means a 200kW is two 100kW modules combined into one box, and the 600kW is six 100kW modules combined into a very big box. It's possible that the balance of plant is then just one system instead of 2 or 6, to save costs.
AFC completing the 100kW 'module' this year, this means they have effectively done 90% or more of the work for the 200kW and 600kW systems at the same time. The circa 10% being the rolling of the BoP into one system, cabinet design, power links, and interface.
Coincidentally, Thursday 01/12/2022 is the 1 year anniversary of the agreement for the ZeroCoaster. Perhaps the project will give all parties a 1 year update on progress, which AFC (and the others) can then announce? Especially seeing as the Project Period is 2020 to 2022, so concludes this year.
"AFC Energy (AIM: AFC), a leading provider of hydrogen power generation technologies, is pleased to announce a milestone achievement set to unlock adoption of Ammonia and high energy dense alkaline fuel cell technology in the multi-billion-dollar effort to decarbonise the global maritime industry. "
"The technology chosen for the ship's 1.2MW power requirement was AFC Energy's new "S" Series heavy duty marinised platform which is expected to host 2 x 600kW of alkaline fuel cell systems plus ammonia cracking technology within modular 40ft containers."

It certainly looks like Vard are ready to go:
“VARD’s ZeroClass is designed from scratch with zero emission fuel as the primary energy source. These designs are featuring genuine solutions, with all components harmonized – not a hybrid or retrofit. Together with a very efficient build process, this is a major step forward,”
"End-users, charterers and cargo owners will increasingly ask for nothing less as they strive to reduce their own climate footprint in line with market expectations. In the same manner we see investors and financial institutions having green initiatives high on their agenda."
"The first designs off the drawing board is a Platform Supply Vessel, Windfarm Support Vessel and a Fishing vessel. Our team will guide you through the process from concept to delivery, and by working together with class, regulators, energy producers and equipment suppliers we can leverage our expertise to meet any challenges during the build."
