Service & Installation Engineer, Op-Deployment & Commissioning

AFC Energy are looking for an enthusiastic Engineer to travel to events and client sites within the UK and potentially Worldwide to deploy and role-out our Hydrogen Fuel Cells and upstream systems, such as Ammonia crackers, Fuel Reformers and Electrolysers and downstream power delivery systems, such as Battery Energy Storage Systems and Low Voltage AC integration.

The role would suit an Electromechanical Engineer with an all-round skill set as it will involve working as part of a small team who manage all aspects of the deployment.

When not deployed in the field, the Engineer will support the Integrated Energy Solutions Testing Department at our HQ in Dunsfold, Surrey.

What the role will consist of:
Deploying, installing, operating and integrating Hydrogen Fuel Cell Systems with equipment such as Crackers, Reformers, Electrolysers, Battery Storage systems etc.
Overseeing/assisting with loading/unloading of hardware, tools & equipment.
Travelling globally, sometimes at short notice, for periods of up to 4 weeks.
Completing itineraries and managing stock.
Installing power and data cabling.
Analysis and recording of operational data.
Fault finding and carrying out maintenance.
Systems testing and commissioning.
Representing the company at public events.

And they will be PEM, using expensive 99.999% scientific grade Hydrogen at a crazy price. And being PEM means PGM's in the stack making it a high CAPEX system.

AFC, 75% purity dirt cheap Hydrogen. No PGM's or possibly only a tiny fraction of what's in PEM making it low CAPEX, also modular with the option to swap out a cartridge for low-cost longevity and easy upgrade.

That is why our partner ABB have ordered and will soon be receiving a 100kW system and early next year a 200kW Ammonia fueled system.

Nothing I will be losing any sleep over that's for sure.

How do you know it's not been deployed? Just because it's not been announced, does not mean it hasn't, as we know from other news items such as "we recently deployed..." but no news when the deployment actually happened, only sometime later.

Also, if not yet delivered, it could be because Kier are not in a position to accept it yet and are waiting on some work or planning approvals to be completed before it happens.

Just because Kier get a few batteries does not make the AFC system redundant, batteries need grid connections, or to be ferried back and forth from depots where they are recharged. AFC offer an on site 24/7/365 system for off grid zero emissions, batteries can't do that.

I'm also thinking that this is now the XMas shopping period and a lot of vessels will need to leave dock asap to get all the xmas shipping done, hopefully freeing up some space for us.

Not sure it's really worth worrying about either way. The price will be a lot higher when we get 3D Seismic news and get closer to drilling. In the meantime, the price is only of interest to anyone wanting/needing to sell, or anyone wanting to buy/add. I'm currently with the vast majority of shareholders though, loaded up to the hilt and happily waiting for the big money.

Q4: When do you expect to be in a position to announce from where and by whom the bioMSAR fuel for the MSC LoNO will be produced?

We are in discussions with various suppliers to produce the trial volumes. We will be in a position to make an announcement once we have signed a production agreement and cannot be more specific at this time regarding the timetable for this.

Q5: Have any issues arrisen from the bioMSAR testing by Wartsila, providing the testing has been undertaken?

The bioMSAR testing by Wartsila is ongoing throughout November. A report will be issued to Quadrise in mid-to-end December.

Q10: Given the current progression through Q4 2022, are we now behind schedule to start the LoNO with MSC in Q1 2023?

The vessel has been inspected, and the MSAR booster system is in good condition. The vessel is scheduled to go into dry dock at the end of the year for a routine check. We are still working to finalise agreements for fuel supply, to commence Proof of Concept trials in Q1 2023, but cannot be more definitive on the PoC start date until these agreements are finalised.

Q16: Is there more likelihood in your opinion of QFI making commercial income from fuel sales now than there was at the last IMC meeting. What significant progress has been made to give you confidence?

The trial in Morocco is to be completed by the end of the year, and pilot drilling for the Valkor programme is underway to assist the approval process in Utah. Both of these projects provide opportunities to generate commercial income in H1 CY23.

This is how I see it so far today:

Sells prior to the 6m were at 1.08
After the 6m sell, the sell price has been dropped so the 2 subsequent sells got a lower 1.0775

That 6m looks like a sell to me.

135,198 buy at 1.0985
followed by 300,000 buy at 1.0985
Followed by 6,000,000 at 1.08, it's a lower price than the above 2 so to me looks like a sell. If it were a buy, I'd expect it to be more than 1.1p for a 6m trade

Check out slide 14. Plenty to target with directional drilling from Kiliwani. The 3D will also look for deeper targets like in the Jurassic, just as it is doing at Ruvuma.

Tanzania - Nyuni

"We anticipate signing a contract imminently for use of the Caroil-6 rig to drill at Nyuni this year. This rig has recently drilled Maurel & Prom's gas discovery well at the nearby Mkuranga licence in Tanzania and will drill a development well in the Songo Songo gas field before delivery to Aminex and partners, anticipated for May. Aminex plans two wells at Nyuni, the first of which will be directionally drilled from the small Kilwani island, which lies one kilometre to the SW of Songo Songo Island. The drilling objective is a prospect known as
Songo Songo South. The second well location has yet to be finalised."

"During the last three months Aminex has conducted an extremely complex " transition zone" seismic programme over the numerous reefs and islands which overlie the licence's leads and prospects. In 2005 a relatively simple marine seismic survey was carried out in navigable waters and the seismic lines in the transition zones, now tied in to the marine lines, provide a far more comprehensive result than has previously been achieved. The Company's partners are Bounty Oil (6%), East Africa Exploration (10%) and Key Petroleum (20%)."

Investing in the stock markets ever since they first began, is about speculation, about buying a stock before it takes off, it is gambling but with odds weighted far more in favour of investors that do the required research.

QFI will take off soon, with the Morocco trial expected to start as soon as the fuel is released from customs and delivered to site, expected to be by mid-December. This is the trial that will hopefully quickly lead to a commercial supply agreement and first fully commercial revenues, so it's a very positive step for QFI while it progresses the much bigger MSC trials.

Another week finishing, another week closer to a trading update, Vard (2x600kW planned) update, and announcement of the 100kW ABB system due by year end to claim £1m milestone payment. Another week that the 3 Power Towers have been tested on construction sites taking them to around 40-60 days and another week closer to sales agreements.

Amazing technology from Syzygy Plasmonics using LED's and a Photocatalyst to crack Ammonia. Thing is, AFC will know about this, as both companies are in the Ammonia Energy Association, so may already be connected and working together under NDA. Syzygy make no mention of who is doing the field trials. Even if AFC are not testing, they will definitely know about the technology and can get a first mover advantage once the commercial systems are available.

"Syzygy Plasmonics has developed new technology that uses light instead of heat from the combustion of fossil fuels to create hydrogen. This Zero-Emission Hydrogen Photoreactor is undergoing field trials with full commercialization expected sometime in 2023. The feedstock is Ammonia and the outputs are hydrogen and nitrogen."

At scale the process is expected to be 84% efficient, vs thermal at 68%. At scale 24% cheaper H2. This will only improve with newer catalyst and LED developments. The system is modular, with each module being the size of a home washing machine.

The video from ExE showed a circular folding solar rig? Not huge, as it creates the H2 over a couple of weeks before the race weekend. I don't see anything about ExE changing that?

I was thinking though. The Kaisen system includes a battery, reformer, Fuel Cell, etc. It's a much bigger container. Also, instead of water storage there is methanol storage. So by the time you add it all up there's probably not a lot of difference in the space is all takes up.

The biggest echo chamber on here is between garmoans' ears!!!
