This dog needs new management and cash to pay down expensive legacy debt. Only an end to Ofgem price cap can help this SP in the absence of a juicy takeover. Nuclear assets are actually a liability, Spirit stake won’t attract juicy premium...........the SP didn’t rally with the vaccine news which means something is not right.

With that amount of cash......you need to take less risk and buy / trade ETFs instead of single companies. Easy 10% annual return, 20% - 30% possible but losses are limited.

iShares Stoxx Europe 600 Utilities etf (Cna included) has done greatly for the past 4 years while CNA thanks to the Conn man decided to knock down the SP. The divi should have been cut to 4p since 2016 while cost should have been cut deeper with focus on renewable assets to invest in.

Divi restart will attract equity income funds, high yield funds and divi focused retail investors. We also need that huge broadband subsidy, huawei compensation cash and a nicer Ofcom to hit 300p.

Same old playbook, knock it down........focus on the bad news! Seen it play out with William hill, Royal Mail bad news was focused on union strike and letter volumes while parcel volume was growing. Gold price above $1600 is fine but think about cost cutting that could be achieved by merging.

You are 100% right, the crazy income funds and benchmarks sell companies that cut / stop their divi. They sell at low then buy at high when divi has been reinstated. This is why hedgefunds short the hell out of companies that stop paying divi without big growth potential.

ITV can start with a low divi but growth is more important............crozier wasted cash on special divis.

You need to slowly recover, don’t go all in trying to recover losses quickly. The travel sector would be wise to do a mega cash call soon. Only hope for CNA is a takeover offer based on their revenue, customers and huge potential to run it efficiently.
Centrica is run by cowboys with no brains..........could have copied SSE Model way back then. They are the most useless utility company in Europe.

I think CEY is going to get an offer soon, most takeovers now involves heavy shorting prior to making the zero-premium offer.

Competition that has created loads of failed companies and when has price caps ever inspired innovation? Just check the facts before jumping to defend socialist cons in charge of Ofgem. CNA would have been bought by a more efficient company if socialist regulations weren’t in place.

Anyway Ofgem’s price cap won’t last forever, I expect more firms to collapse post Covid.

Haha........London market is like the monarchy system. You must know when to keep buying and when to wait for more drops. Just check RMG chart, add William hill, RSA and many more. Go way back and you will see that to make money you must keep buying and have lots of spare cash.

The divi is the main reason why I think Barrick would be looking closer. Barrick wants to get bigger and doesn’t pay much divi so buying a high divi company with close by assets will reduce costs and CEY divi could be reinvested instead. Sure they will maintain the payout for the EMRA agreement.
