We should be up or flat today but nope, we are down 5%. Shame we have a weak board that are blind to ask the CEO to resign after failing to convince 41% of the shareholders.

Just take a look at Carillion, that company couldn’t survive if it didn’t get more loans to continue its loss making contracts. VOD has money coming in by the second, needs new money just to invest in advance technology and expand. If VOD went to 1p because of general recession, you can keep buying unlike some shaky companies.

Car finance and credit cards is the only problem I have with european banks. Too many cars are bought on excessive finance and dodgy leases. The car manufacturers have colluded with banks to keep new car prices high......most new build streets have more cars than trees now. People with no savings / mortgages have nice cars that cost them a lot.
A huge company needs to collapse to start a 2008 type crash.......Amazon / Netflix would be ideal. Sorry if anyone here holds both.

Defensive against loss of business. VOD provides essential services and products.........we need our broadband, business phones, mobile phones during bad times. We can stop buying branded products in Tesco, stop going to restaurants and cinemas but we all need to communicate and stay connected. VOD has big business customers / government who use their services too and this will continue during bad times.

Did you get that? SP may plunge but underlying business would be solid.

I am very angry and frustrated that a useless CEO has a chokehold on the company. 41% votes against him must mean something. The board should sack him instead or he should be asked to step down by IOD or other bodies as he is a disgrace.

Are you saying the market makers are dumb! Just look at SKY bid situation, the MMs knew the offer would have to go higher and higher it went. They knew that PFD was being saved by McC and no other company is willing to make an offer so their plunged it back down. Same again today, Darby has cost us 5% mark down!

State needs to privatise Channel 4 on the cheap like Royal Mail, ITV will buy some shares and other shareholders then they can all merger in order to survive. Traditional TV viewers are dying out, I am not young but I don’t watch TV........

Stop it please, never advise anybody to buy a company whereby the directors are secretive, misleading and useless. Darby claims he reduced debt, shareholders paid for the debt when cash was raised. He spends all our profit on high interest payments. He won’t accept a reasonable offer and won’t support the SP. Buy another company if you have spare cash.

This is unfair to shareholders, Darby will plunge the SP to cause maximum pain to Oasis. Oasis have lost face, time and money.

Finally we can all agree, buying a company with good fundamentals and low SP is the smartest thing to do now. It could be boring but I think it’s less risky than buying overvalued high flyers now. Another 10% - 20% drop for VOD in case of general market rout compared to may be 50% - 60% in other shares. I want to short Netflix and Amazon big time but Americans are crazy and will keep buying. I want to short fevertree but I am too scared so I play it super safe and boring.

Same for me, buying both Vod and Bt. My portfolio is moving towards value / defensive only........boring but when American market bubble burst, it would affect U.K markets even though U.K markets have been awful.

I might need a therapy soon to deal with my PTSD caused by Darby. Can I sue him?

You should try it too mate, may be you will feel better and stop giving yourself headache shorting via spreadbet / CFD. A smart guy doesn’t short as their are other solid shares to buy out there..........positive energy wins but I don’t mind people shorting dodgy companies with no brand quality. VW is doing just fine after their scandal, you know why?

Shorting is good as it allows us to buy some more at lower prices with our juicy divi. Good luck mate, check european telecoms index........needs to be bought up not shorted as it is gonna be the next place for funds to rotate into. Any other defensive sector with a brand like VOD for funds to safely park their gains? VOD Bond / debt profile is cheap to service as they have used their status to secure cheap debt. EXV2 ETF has VOD as its top holding (20%).......ETFs don’t check prices, they just keep buying.

I expected the CEO to come out swinging today to defend the SP and keep his job but I honestly don’t understand how detached the CEO is. No update on strategic review but gives interview to Reuters! Come on, this company is acting like a private company.

I have just sold the house and moved in a tent, no mortgage needed! I have gone all in with zero leverage so timing is the only uncertainty here. I bet you are long fevertree and bitcoin, no wonder why VOD seems strange to you. Leave the matured minds to stable defensive companies while you gamble your life on AIM companies and bitcoin.

This is a joke, I don’t see any reversal in the SP unless we get a bid. I should have sold and run!
