Young Living Farms is a world leader in the supply of the highest quality essential oils with farms spread across 5 continents. The unique distilling process it's founder & Chairman D. Gary Young has developed to produce a 100% pure oil is very energy intensive and once the oil is extracted leaves considerable amounts of biomass wastes which are perfect as a feedstock for CoalSwitch. When producing CoalSwitch one of it's by-products is a liquid solution with all the benefits of a very high completely natural fertilizer. Today's intensive farming methods require careful soil management to help keep harvesting yields at a maximum which means the buying of expensive fertilizers and these costs all impact on the final product selling price. When you read through Young Living Farms (YLF) website you can easily see Gary is a clever visionary who's embarrassed natures natural oils to bring healing and wellness to it's customers while bringing wealth/ financial security to it's rapidly growing global direct sales team. With YLF HQ based in UTAH I think Gary has had front row seats to watch the CoalSwitch development and may now be having another one of his visions. Through utilizing the benefits of the CoalSwitch process, he could now use his wastes to become far more sustainable by slashing energy/fertilizer costs along with reducing his carbon footprint, which may not be an immediate problem in the current Trump led USA, it is however becoming a problem with his other farms based in counties which are now introducing their carbon tax policies. Although there's great excitement with the thought of supplying vast volumes of fuel to the major energy providers these all come with difficult negotiating/supply terms, major logistic infrastructure requirements and a reduced selling price compared to other much simpler opportunities. I believe, like Gary, there's many more very lucrative ways of utilizing the CoalSwitch process across the world and these smaller off-grid type set-ups can be just as exciting/rewarding and all without the major headaches.
Biomass and forestry management business Active Energy has announced that its first commercial CoalSwitch plant in Utah, US, will have its official opening this week. With the Plant operational, AEG can now demonstrate the delivery of commercial quantities of CoalSwitch. This is clearly an inflection point in the development of our business and we are delighted to welcome a select group of parties to visit the Plant this week, said Active Energy CEO Richard Spinks. https://www.bioenergy-news.com/display_news/13394/active_energy_coalswitch_plant_to_open_this_week/
One of the country's largest coal-fired power stations is to stop generating electricity because it will not be economically viable. The owner of the Eggborough plant in East Yorkshire said it had taken the decision to close it because it had failed to secure funding through the so-called "capacity market" for 2018-2019. https://news.sky.com/story/eggborough-power-station-to-shut-as-policy-goes-cold-on-coal-11233023

With hitting 3.51p the Fibonacci 50% retracement level from 2.3p, the start of the recent move, to 4.6p high is now complete. If 3.5p holds this shows good consolidation and a firm base to move to new highs. If 3.5p is broken we could see downside back into the 2s. Any new positive news will help defend the 3.5p pivot point.
UK coal phase-out plan should include biomass: REA https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/coal-generation-in-great-britain-the-pathway-to-a-low-carbon-future Commenting on the response, Frank Gordon, Policy Manager at the Renewable Energy Association said: We welcome the confirmation of this coal phase-out decision today and the further details regarding how this historic transition will be implemented. The way the government will implement the phase-out of coal commits them to using carbon intensity as a measure to exclude certain technologies from the capacity market, which is a major auction that procures back-up power capacity. Using maximum carbon intensity levels is something we have been calling for over the past year, and we now urge the government to commit to further reducing the carbon intensity of technologies that can bid in so that dirty diesel facilities will no longer be eligible to bid into the scheme. The constructive decision to phase-out coal is also somewhat undermined by recent proposals from the department to restrict the development of new biomass plants in government auctions, including a lack of funding for coal-to-biomass conversion. Converting retiring coal facilities to sustainable biomass is the most cost-efficient way to transition these existing assets to this new low-carbon future and to retain and grow jobs and investment.
Energy giant RWE is calling on the Dutch government to reconstruct the last five coal plants in the Netherlands to run on biomass, instead of closing them completely. According to the company, this will reduce CO2 emissions even more and make best use of existing infrastructure, NU.nl reports. One of the Dutch's government goals, as stated in the government agreement, is to shut down the last five coal-fire plants in the country by 2030. This measure is necessary in order to reduce the production of CO2, as agreed at the climate convention in Paris. Obviously energy giants like RWE are not in love with the idea. Two of the five installations, on the Maasvlakte and the Groningse Eemshaven, opened only recently and together they cost around 6 billion euros. Instead of shutting down the coal-fired plants, they should be rebuilt in order to work on biomass. In this way more CO2 can be saved, says Taco Douma, director of the German energy giant RWE https://nltimes.nl/2018/01/05/coal-plant-owner-call-switch-biomass
