For sure Coal is a reliable source of energy. Often it can be mined locally to power plants.. World wide as things are maybe 100yrs supply..

Uk however has limited reserves. There are also legacy and health issues associated with its extraction and use .. Politically its seen as a really bad ass..

It is interesting note that world wide it is reported its energy use is increasing. In 2022 it pass the 8 billion ton a year. Pakistan has the Thar Block 11 field which may help revive its economy.. No doubt this has influenced the path the Chinese belt and road is taking.

Currently 54.2% of the UK energy supply coming from wind.. Part of a diversified energy mix using non fossil fuels.

Storage is a key area to focus on. SS batteries and Vanadium Redox look promising but there are numerous other systems that can store energy...

Man made climate change is very difficult to gauge but we do know for certain that critical weather patterns are cyclical depending on certain factors and can happen over a short time span . Others take centuries or longer.
