Respect is an interesting topic to raise. Govt back to low hanging fruit. Is it only choice.. Not in my book.

Thing I would look Uni and student loan. £21bn a year "loaned" to 1.5m higher education student.. How much paid back.. Well this is the thing.. Govt says that around 56 % will be repaid.. So what the running total of the value of outstanding loans ... At the end of March 2025 reached £267 billion.

So not only that but what they learn? Well on 28Th July was reported . "More than 630,000 graduates are claiming benefits, according to official figures that cast doubt on the value of “Mickey Mouse” degrees"..

Is not the only problem because these people could have done vocational training and join the labour force.. You get them into work by 21 and they could pay into the system ( retirement age 68 ).. 47 years of which only 35 are needed for the full state pension...Big win that for Govt.

The disabled and those on benefits are far from easy targets. The legislation regarding the disability struggling to get through Parliament proves that and that is part of the problem. It would be political suicide to drastically reform benefits.

As for the economic "usefulness" of the disabled.. Depend this one one what you describe as disabled, but a whole raft of industries thrive off them not least those such as the motor industry with schemes such as motability.. We have also learned that some on disability claimants are given handouts which would exceed the average income for those at work . The Telegraph recently carried an article "Families on benefits can be better off than those earning £70k "

So what new war kicking off... Looking Like USA got the hots for a conflict with the Venezuelan cartels. Could be interesting..

They have worked and saved an many not frightened to spend releasing a lot of money back into the economy. Be that on holidays , meals out or even care...It creates a lot of jobs.. Also not forget that pensioners often gift their children a lot of money enable them to get on housing ladder etc and provide wrap a round care on the cheap so that their grandchildren's parents can work...

Pensioners a asset not a liability...

You will know more than most that there are two sides on the balance sheet. Income and expenditure..

Govt is looking to raise income but is no good if the other side is getting larger. Govt needs to put the debit side the benefits in particular as their main target.. The milch cows already starting to show some reluctance at going into the parlour..
