This was posted on ADVFN board, nit sure who wrote this but this sums up the event better than I could.
Invinity hosted their inaugural capital markets day at their manufacturing facilities in Scotland. The day marked the official opening of the company’s new 26,000 sq. ft assembly facility in Motherwell and included a tour of their current Bathgate facility near Edinburgh, consisting of a deep dive into their technology, manufacturing and R&D focus areas. Our key takeaway from the event is that Invinity are well placed to take advantage of accelerating demand for long duration electricity storage, positioning Scotland as a global leader in flow battery manufacturing as the company progresses towards profitability. With a cap and floor price support mechanism currently under consultation in the UK, we see Invinity as well positioned at home and abroad.
New Motherwell Facility and Upgrades at Bathgate Invinity has expanded its UK manufacturing capabilities following the successful £57m fundraising earlier this month. The manufacturing facility in Motherwell has roughly six times the floor space of the existing site at Bathgate, taking the company’s UK flow battery annual assembly capacity to over 500MWh, approximately quadrupling its current capacity. Good progress is being made in Motherwell, with management confident that battery assembly can begin Q3 24. Invinity will also be upgrading their Bathgate facility by introducing a semiautomated manufacturing line to increase capacity and further reduce unit production costs.
A Global Leader in Long Duration Storage It is clear to see that Invinity is well-positioned to elevate the UK’s global position as a grid-scale long duration battery leader. With the UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB) now on board as the majority shareholder following their £25m equity investment into the company, Invinity’s ability to position the UK, in particular Scotland, as a leader in energy storage is stronger than ever. Expanding the company’s manufacturing footprint gives Invinity the production capacity it needs to match not only its current order book, but also future targeted demand in the UK and abroad whilst creating green jobs in Scotland. The Bathgate site will continue to focus on cell stack manufacture, with physical battery assembly now taking place in Motherwell.
Improving Electrolyte Versatility Reduces Cost Differing from solid-state batteries, the electrolytes are not only ionic conductors, but also the cell reactants and products. Therefore, the concentration of vanadium in the electrolyte determines the energy density of the system. In particular, the electrolyte composition and level of vanadium purity will influence energy density, operating temperature range and the practical applications of the VFB.
