We have no idea how thick the reservoir sands are (we get so little information) and hence how easily they can be followed on the new 3D. The side track from the initial drill would not have provided much data on the thickness of the upper jurassic sandstones either and hence the pre- appraisal concern over net to gross data. The reservoir rocks could have been thinning up dip along the path of the side track and they probably wouldn't have known.

We have only hope left now. I am painfully down as are most but have decided to stick with it long term if necessary.

If the West Phoenix was planning to move on the anchor handling tugs would need to be present. those with more expertise with Marine traffic website will be able to help us with this point.

It seems odd that the target upper jurassic sands that provided the oil bearing reservoir in the discovery well were not encountered at all in the appraisal well. The distance between the wells is a modest 2km. The upper Jurassic sands could have "pinched out" over this distance or have been thrust deeper by a fault between the two wells. Lets hope its the latter and whilst they are there they might as well explore a little deeper rather than waiting another year or more (or never ) for the next appraisal well.

I am taking from the news is that there is no mention of "plug and abandon" which is invariably the next step with a duster and we have 40 days still allocated to the drill. Maybe just maybe, more activity to come.

They will certainly have relevant data they cold announce well before the 70 days are up. The question is will JOG or Equinor let us in on it as an interim announcement.

filtered Persimmon some time ago and would recommend the peace it provides.

Agree with much of your post bob but dont expect the same high flow rates at Monroe Swell as VG4. The geology and historical production suggest significantly lower flow rates but balanced with more wells. All good but will take a lit longer to get all the wells producing.

Yeah its a nice interview but what bothers me is Malcy's unwillingness to get to the important detail. For instance did he ask the key question around what appraisal processes are actually planned for the well? Will the well be flow tested (DST)? Will core samples be taken for laboratory analysis of actual reservoir rock?

They are allocating a lot of time to this appraisal well with results not due until mid Q2, so roughly 70 days. Results of the exploration well took only around 30 days!

It will be known what tests are planned as the equipment will have to be on the rig at the start of operations so why not ask about it?

JB The price of oil has also risen by 10% since wick result too. The sp is a mystery indeed. Topped up again today- hope this a display of steel on my part and not stupidity (which has been known).

I would suggest this because we dont know the outcome of the orginal Colter target, which still has a 50/%05 chance of success. Good news today unquestionably, but the main target result is now two weeks away. If the Colter result proper is poor we will only have this Colter South discovery which we dont, as yet, know whether it is independently commercial.

Yep,$ trillions of new investment needed to bring new fields on and huge increase in demand for gas. Now didnt RKH find a sh..t load of gas in Johnson. Seems like a long time ago.
