Shuvlin, for some reason that I can't explain/understand, it seems to me that there is a cohort of South Africans that are against the deal for more than business reasons. Whether it is Boer pride or something else, but the absolute determination to spread falsehoods and undermine the perception of the management is obvious. Whatever the reason, there can be no excuse for spreading misinformation and opinion dressed up as fact.
As Mikey says, frankly we are over a barrel in SA and this is a, and probably the only, way out with at least NAV recovered. And now we know the debt goes with the deal I believe most people see it as a reasonable, and actually, in reality, a bl**dy good deal in the circumstances, and will vote for it.
I also do not think most people understand how amazing the grades of copper that we have acquired are, compared to what is processed in other countries and by other producers. It is the fact that we have developed the means to process transitional reefs that at present others can't, economically, that has allowed us to steal a march in obtaining the rights to them. The management clearly have no intention of making the same mistake that they did in SA by not capturing the fundamental resources early whilst they are still of little value to anyone else. As it is, and based on the extensive testing that has already taken place, we own tens of billions of dollars worth of contained copper for which we have paid but a few million dollars. Now we must release that potential.
