Kazakhstan Kagazy is a major industrial group in Kazakhstan and runs Kagazy Recycling LLP, Central Asia’s largest producer of paper, corrugated board and packaging products, which was established in 2001. Kagazy stands for “paper” in the Kazakh language. It also operates one of the leading commercial real estate development companies in the country through Prime Estate Activities Kazakhstan LLP (Peak). Kagazy owns approximately 711 hectares of prime land for construction of commercial warehousing and logistics infrastructure facilities.
British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen may have created only a spurious link to Kazakhstan, but the London Stock Exchange is increasingly playing host to capital-raising efforts by companies from the Central Asian nation. Following a recent trend of Kazakhstani debuts in London, Kazakhstan Kagazy, the largest paper producer in Central Asia, is going to float shares at $5 per global depositary receipt in its initial public offering in London, valuing the company at $490 million, according to Thomson Financial. Kazakhstan Kagazy may raise up to $275 million in new funds by offering 48 million primary shares sold in the form of GDRs to international institutional investors. ING (nyse: ING - news - people ) Bank has been appointed as lead manager for the issue. The company intends to use proceeds from the offering to expand paper production and to fund development of its industrial real estate projects. Established in 2001, Kazakhstan Kagazy's wholly owned subsidiary Kagazy Recycling is the largest manufacturer of paper and corrugated cardboard in Central Asia, using recycled waste paper and cardboard fiber as the raw stock. Besides paper recycling and production, Kazakhstan Kagazy also invests in commercial real estate projects. The group is currently building a 51.7-hectare (128-acre) logistics center in an industrial area outside Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, taking advantage of its proximity to major cargo transportation routes to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine an
