I've got a whopping loss here like everyone else. But I agree with islandgirl - when/if it starts to move, it will move very quickly. So I figured rather than chase it, I'll buy today and see what happens. In for a penny, in for a pound. (If only it was a penny!)
With the Altria - PM merger off, chances are that one, or both, of them will go looking for a new merger partner. IMB share price is low, pound is low against the dollar, size is right, and company is financially in good shape. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a bid from one of them soon. Heaven would be a bidding war between the two of them. While I wait for some bidding action, I'm happy to sit and collect my nice dividend every quarter.
Super analysis, Poppyseed - thanks! Maybe that explains that mysterious line in the RNS about the new investment opportunities?
I've always favoured a JV but a sale at a good price would also be acceptable. Let's not forget that GC and his mates also have quite a bit sunk into this company and want to make a profit as much as we do.
I'm intrigued by the line that part of the money will be used "to evaluate additional acquisition and investment opportunities". Can't help but wonder what they'll be using to pay for these new opportunities . Or is the "interested party" prepared to finance much more than a pipeline? If they acquire a couple of new mines, I do hope they'll tell us about it.
I wonder who the "others prepared to hand over 400,000" are. Could his initials be GC by any chance? And an investment company that begins with Tr?
The only positive thing about this RNS is that it seems to say that once phase 1 is completed, a deal of some sort can go through. Or am I reading too much into it?
Max - I ought to have made it clearer that, although a placing at these levels wouldn't surprise me, I don't really expect it. As I said in an earlier post, I believe limited production has continued all along and there's no need for a placing. What I meant in my last post was more an "opportunistic placing", in other words, a cheap share grab by GC and friends. We'll see.
Max - a placing wouldn't surprise me one bit. I have the feeling that GC, by letting all interest in the company disappear, has intentionally let the sp fall to close to zero. If there's a placing, I expect to see Tracarta and one of GC's vehicles take it up and get control of a good chunk of the company for next to nothing. And then we finally get news of a JV or something similar. That would be great, except for the fact that we won't benefit all that much from it any more.
