I'm not a great fan of dilutions, but I do make the distinction between share issues for a good purpose and issues whose only purpose is to keep the company alive and pay the directors a nice salary another few months. This dilution is mostly the first kind and the investment may just turn out to be a wise one at a good price. But why now, when the sp is scraping the bottom? I know it's useless to try to second guess the inscruatble GC, but is this part of some grander scheme of his? In any case, the shares go back into the bottom drawer for now. Even Mrs gmed has forgotten about them. Almost.

It would be easy to view the extensive corona measures as an expensive waste of money, but I see them as an excellent investment in staff loyalty and public image, well worth giving up the special dividend for. This is the difference between a management that wants to maximise the long-term value of a company and one that simply focuses on the next quarter.

I don't think it's anything specific to MRW. The hedge funds have been shorting UK high street retail for a long time, well before the Corona thing, and are especially negative on the supermarkets. If Citadel and the others are relying on their own analysis and not on inside information, I don't really mind their shorting. Those are millions of shares which, sooner or later, will have to be bought back.

I think they accidently sent out last year's rns. Or was it the one from two years ago? It's easy to make a mistake like that - they all look the same. Well, at least it wasn't bad news.

Down on no volume, up on no volume. Neither one really means anything. Still nice to see a higher price though.

Your 2302 post is spot on, safetyman. But I'm not sure I have the guts to add to a portfolio that Is already down 50%. I wanted to buy at "these ridiculously low prices" about a week ago, but mrs gmed started looking up the phone number of a good divorce lawyer. There's an old stock market saying about not trying to catch a falling knife. But how do you know when the knife has stopped falling? For me it will be when mrs gmed says "maybe it's time to buy a bit".

Having a different view is fine, in fact, it's welcome. But when the view gets repeated over and over again, without adding anything new to the discussion, it does become irritating. It's the useless repetition, not the view itself.

For what my memory is worth these days, as I remember it Tracarta participated in placings at 9p and 6p. If they haven't swallowed their losses by now, I sincerely hope they triple their money.

The grant may have been delayed, but I doubt very much that it's in any danger. Do you honestly think Santander would have made the loan without first ringing the junta to make certain the grant is going through?

This does have a bit of an odour about it. But I'm going to assume that Santander did its dd before splashing out 5 mill and that they still were willing to lend the money. I'm also assuming that they know a lot more than we do.

What do you suppose Silchester are up to? I suspect they're building an initial position, perhaps 20% or so, for someone planning to make a bid for MRW, rather than simply acquiring a portfilio position for a client. For Amazon perhaps? After all Silchester is a US company. Well, if Amazon are planning a bid, they won't get too much better conditions than right now.

If the crude price doesn't improve quickly, it will put quite a few of the US shale producers out of business. Every cloud has its silver lining.
