let me start by saying am heavily invested in Bp and at much lower prices than the current one , have you guy thought than the reason why sp is holding well all considered is that there is some strong action from board to sustain the stock price through buy back? this is what I suspect and I wonder if it can last...hope so either way as I am a Lon term holder in any case

paul2566 thanks for the input, have been studying heavily the two and I came to the conclusion LGEN is the better choice so might add to my old position (as BP had already 65% of my portfolio since a year ago), I see lgen with more stable earnings growth , more defensive in case of a market correction, overall better value (am a value investor I only buy value stocks even when the momentum is on growth. I also hold Lloyd Barclays Vodafone and sbsw all bought on the first pandemia crash and all for the long term

PAUL2566 I like the list of stocks at the bottom of you post, I wonder why you prefer LGEn to Aviva....I also hold LGEN and not Aviva , I like turnaround stories as much as the next man ergo I potentially like Aviva however lGEn I found has more consolidated history of earnings growth and am prone to go for Lgen however I shall be glad to know your opinion

lots of (mostly institutional but not only ) investors buy BP for income, with rise in sp divi is now below inflation rate...not good ,not attractive enough, I guess at some point we ll shy away from BB in favour of a more aggressive divi policy. stock is still cheap , long term hold

I believe point 1 is going to change , will take some time still perhaps but slowly but surely it will, and when mkt realises the importance of the shifting into renewables especially green hydrogen (BP) the tables will be turned and you ll see money coming out of the US oil and gas producers into shell and bp

hmm no not time to sell , just too many catalysts going for the stock right now, er should be very good, lots of merger activity, smart money in, rotation to value to continue all year, dividend and all, am holding for the medium long

in fact somethings cooking if not almost cooked , merger with Iliad in Italy, very bullish for Vodafone

Looking at recent share price movement (peculiar also the (sometime) inverse correlation with the overall markets I got a feeling something is cooking, not talking of TOB but surely some big player is increasing their position

don't think has much to do with buy backs, impact on SP considering volumes traded is quite limited, reason stock is going up and largely expected to do so are 1 rotation from growth and tech into value 2 cheap valuation even more so when new ER comes out 3 price of oil...

no doubt in my mind next week 400 will be broken but no matters , this is a long term hold, rotation from growth to value has just started and will continue throughout 2022 and can't see a better value stock right now anywhere in any market period

hmm darktrace, it s in such an interesting and valuable sector(cybersecurity) and it s run by academically bright people no doubt, however : makes no money, it is highly geared and from a strictly speaking market view extremely volatile , just look at what happened in recent months , was enough a sell report from one single analyst to take it down from 1000 to back to 400....as a value investor I would never touch such a stock , it s like playing roulette , red or black , whatever, also cause small caps have balance sheet more difficult to get around to....I would rather be in a company like BP for the long run, steady increasing dividend, cash cow, tons of free cash in the bank, great green hydrogen strategy while keeping generating easy cash from oil and gas, etc etc if you see what I mean

in addition it is welcome the diversification, rio can't cotinue to be just an iron ore player no matter how dominant in the market it is, need to start to increase exposure in lithium (which has started to do) and renewable energies besides the already existence copper business which I also hope will be increased, in fact if I could choose to resources for the next 20y besides green hydrogen on which am very bullish , these would be lithium and copper , no much substitute for these 2 and strongly needed in the years to come

as a shareholder I strongly approve the recent acquisition, in fact I was hoping RIO will increase its exposure on lithium. Lithium will be the most valuable commodity for the next 20years. Markets might not get it now like they are not getting with the BP green hydrogen strategy but they will have to eventually, so this a buy on any weakness
