Hi everyone, baffled by this. Going debt free, another decent dividend expected, ideas welcome
Thanks
Agreed Jimjam. Have waited patiently for this and although am sure SP will drop upon special dividend, believe this will continue to bounce up. Always makes me laugh when brokers issue their forecasts as whatever they are, the markets never really seem to react, certainly not straight away. Like to believe the prediction is right this time for a change and wouldn’t be surprised if that is exceeded. Now NW have increased their dividend and by a chunky sum, it would have caught people eyes, which in turn will guarantee some of the new shareholders staying put and more buying = SP increases, yes it’s that simple. Alison Rose is doing a stirring job, really impressed by her. Forgive the ramping but am Seeing a similar story for AV. Amanda Blanc is also doing an excellent job and when we get nearer big dividend time in 2023, that should also bounce right up. The market is slow to react to this and all insurance companies being hit hard for now. GLA
Hi Osmium, yes, am sure the wide spread will deter day traders, which is good and May put others off. However, I got burnt when it fell sharply from 270, so suspect that is the main reason. I have reinvested having suffered a loss and believe this will deliver. Just need to be patient. Why do I have faith? I can’t find a competitor anywhere near SED and with momentum building towards a more economical product, see a win win. Oh and something else - whilst I don’t pretend to be close to it, Asian economy where this product does have a contract for electric bikes, suffered big time from covid and other reasons, so believe when everything settles down, the return from this market in particular will be huge. I am invested in Asian funds and they are slowly coming back up, famous last words…Thoughts welcome
Such a joy to see the rise, although I don’t know why. The note from marquess May be a cause or perhaps we finally reached the bottom of this slump. What I do know is with the rest of the market falling off a cliff, RDW is climbing and long May it continue. I don’t pretend to be an expert on all the house building shares and couldn’t say with authority which one to go for. I chose RDW because of the love p/e, favourable comments across social media, decent dividend rise, room to grow and popped into one their building sites where I was suitable impressed. Perhaps our new PM has a stamp duty cut in mind? Something is happening somewhere and if you take a look back on this board long enough you will find plenty of director buys at 6.30. Let’s hope it gets back there in time, but for now I am happy = all views welcome. GLA
Thanks Chandley. I was lucky to average 360 and won’t be selling. Best guess is that it will fall to 335 then bounce, but could be anything. Did a lot of research and fell off my chair when I found out the margin they have on anything sold at the petrol station, if people knew that they would be up in arms. BP has the green agenda well covered, agree that buybacks support dividend increase and luckily I can leave my investment untouched for 10 years. On top of all that, discovered that there are so many huge holdings in BP and I mean huge, that when it drops, buyers will come, especially with an increased dividend GLA
Hi everyone, please can someone help.
The fourth dividend of $5.46 is due to be paid on 24/6/22
I can’t find the RNS which confirmed how much the increase will be to the dividend behind that or the new yield, which is currently 4.2%
Many thanks
Hi everyone, last year I sold at a much reduced profit, buying around £2 and selling too late after it hit £2.80. I didn’t understand the collapse and still don’t really now. All that matters to all of us is buying in at the right price. I will be staggered if this collapses much below £1.20, after today’s news, but what do I know…
Anyway, it’s great to see a busy debate on what is usually a very quiet board. My knowledge in this industry isn’t impressive but even I can see that right now there are too many eggs in the basket, maybe a few need to be broken or at least put to one side for now and push ahead with the most promising. Mr Kist needs to get his priorities right and as others have said here, publish clear unambiguous messages which will encourage investment rather than make rich people think twice. When this kicked off last year many said the potential market is so huge, it’s almost unmanageable and perhaps that’s why it fell so badly, notwithstanding supply chain issues and everything else that has gone wrong in the world since then
However, am keen to understand whether people here think SED could be another AFC - I know they differ but they are in a similar industry and have behaved very much the same, with plenty of excitement and potential but only to be let down and SP falls
My lesson learnt is to be more patient and agree with others here who believe we are literally years away from this taking off. Just hope it doesn’t continue to drop once the news goes quiet for the near future
Feedback welcome and GLA
Much appreciated Mike
Life is too short to worry or get upset about things that don’t matter. Everyone’s got enough to contend with and I hope our friend finds happiness elsewhere. I always try to make people smile when I can. And Yes, I do think NW is a cracking prospect!
Hi Dinoken, We have the best CEO we’ve had for years, who along with her board have the foresight to move with the Green agenda, care and support customers who right now need it most and has timed the share buybacks to perfection. This has risen from £2.00 to the right side of £2.25 in no time and you still moan. The dividend is the highest for years. The market is slowly cottoning on to the potential here, it is climbing up and still has a long way to go. Inflation will help too. You are not welcome on this board, as everyone else endorses, you add no value. Why not have a marmalade sandwich (a lot of important people recommend it) calm yourself down and apply your wisdom elsewhere. Whatever your grievance you have against this bank has no place on this board. You are clearly angry about something.
Hi everyone, I see last years ex dividend was on 22/4 and in 2019 25/4, but whilst it’s been confirmed that this year we will enjoy $26, I can’t see this years ex dividend date
Please can someone help
Thanks
Hi Dinoken, are you a disgruntled member of staff, or perhaps someone who bought in when we hit £2.50? All your posts on here are critical and have no substance. Please take a look at my previous posts and others which give an opinion and back it up. Always happy to be challenged, but personally am extremely confident that this will grow and continue to do so for reasons already mentioned on this board - yes, it will be gradual but this is a rock solid share with increasing dividends and if it happens to fall below £2 again, I and many others will be buying more. Good luck in whatever you do, but if you are going to continue to post, do some research and put some facts in it, otherwise to be honest it is boring and serves no value whatsoever
Hi unvrkw, am seeing this the same as yourself. Yes, we will see volatility, as CAML has been below 200 and now 260, but there aren’t many other stocks out there which are debt free and a very tasty dividend. Usually I buy low and stay put, but here, at the risk of being greedy, am considering buying a few more. Sure it will drop at ex div next month, but wow! This has real potential to fly in the next few years. Has solid dividend cover too.
Hi Mike, you are so right. We have a long list of positives - increased dividend this year, which will continue to grow now government own less than 50%. Strong results. Have learnt from the unwise overseas costly purchases in the past and offloading prudently now. Change of the guard who know what they are doing, less branch closures than competition, which I confess is a personal preference. Yes, it won’t be quick, but I would rather have steady growth, with an increased dividend than anything else. A safe share is very hard to find these days. Don’t forget, it was a small drop at ex dividend too, also, we hit £2.50 and will get there again. Looking across - Lloyds hasn’t delivered. Plenty of support across these boards and elsewhere saying their SP will jump up, but it hasn’t. As you point out, Barclays is suffering. HSBC has had a blue 2 years, rising 15%, so looks to me to be second choice for the future. However, NW has risen 91% in 2 years
Hi Tuneup
If you are not in for the long haul, good luck with whatever you choose to reinvest in, but don’t criticise the company without substantiating your comment. Take a look at performance across all banks since COVID and you will soon see which one is leading the pack, with the rosiest future
Hi, absolutely no idea and having been in and out of this share (now back in) during last few months, am hoping for a decent rise. Ok, I predict 10.5, am struggling to see anything else but a rise but what do I know…
Spot on Mr Bond, brokers who know much more than I ever will, say it will hit 7.00 this year and I believe them. Am sure many like me will try to buy at the bottom. Bearing in mind the FTSE 100 recovered almost everything it lost in just 1 day, we may see the biggest BP swing yet, although it may take a bit longer than 24 hours
Rationale behind 5.50 is using same percentage drop from last ex div, including the fact that this div has been increased
Hi everyone
I read everywhere that this is the bargain of the century. Great P/E ratio, increased dividend, money set aside for cladding, government supporting new homes being built….
Yet it has dropped and dropped, probably because of Mr Gove’s recent comments
Anyway, yes, I firmly believe it is a true bargain, but with exdiv almost minutes away, am trying to guess where the bottom will be
My guess is 550
Comments most welcome from all
£3.73 Giraffe
Thankyou Atlantic
Who knows, I might get back to doing some work in a moment, looking at the price action today, the tax threshold is getting closer….
Many thanks everyone, much appreciated
Hasten to add that “no” I am not going to make a fortune, but can now bed and breakfast at next tax year and bear other things in mind
Convinced SBTX will give us all a fortune but no-one, least of all me, knows when
