Thanks for your comment observantken. Agree with your positivity as a new holder here. Am prepared to put up with the odd behaviour/ volatility of SP. The days before the update, the SP fell, which was odd as the news was solid, albeit not confirming the dividend payout which of course everyone wants to know. Then we had the jump up after Berenberg raised target to 780 and today, after your post, a sudden drop back down, profit taking?. I too looked back for SP behaviour and even if it falls further, believe it will recover as we get closer to the next set of results on 22 March. I bought in because Kenmare has a specialist supply of critical raw materials, which is away from the Copper market within which there a so many stocks. Admit I need to understand competition better, but am seeing this as a low/medium risk here. As their website says, a well established company. Happy for all feedback. GLA

Hi everyone, there has been an ex dividend date of January and February for the last 2 years, would be good to understand when the next update is due, so we know what the first dividend will be - especially as it jumped from 25p to 50p and we have had contracts renewed recently

Yes, I am definitely long term, but confess this sudden bounce after such a long time in the doldrums, has taken me and I suspect many others by surprise. The only question left for me is whether I invest more now, or wait until ex-dividend in February (not far away).
I am proud that I did stick my neck out (never get tired of that one), and bought when we were in the 400’s. Don’t get them all right, but looking good right now

Hi Strictly, forgive me for using this board to discuss RDW but as you kindly pointed out, people tend to prefer here to RDW page. Am absolutely amazed, delighted at RDW breaking resistance of £5 after a long time. Was lucky enough to buy below and will stand back and enjoy the rise. Would appreciate your opinion as to why this has suddenly taken off.
My guess - economy better than expected for last quarter + Sunak due to announce incentives for homebuyers this year, in an attempt to keep Tories in power next year + when I go for my daily walk, I come across not one not two but three new builds going on - and it isn’t a long walk…Director buys way above current SP, albeit a while ago, inflation due to decrease sooner than expected + Base Rate same = but would be grateful for your views as I am certainly not a housebuilder expert in the market like yourself.
I bought in on the simple logic that the price couldn’t go lower than £4 (it did to £3.67 I recall!) and therefore with dividends to enjoy, leaving this to grow for at least 5 years was a low risk call

Hi Skier, the Daily Telegraph recommended buying here when it was £2.02 and I was lucky enough to take advantage. Questor highlighted several positives (some mentioned on this board), such as online growth and the simple fact that Tesco are so well established with a large loyal customer base and good dividend record, that they had been oversold. With your griping, I suspect you worked for Tescos in the past and perhaps feel you weren’t treated very well? I wonder if my guess is correct?
Either way, you are clearly on a slippery slope so I suggest you go downhill and drink some gluhwein, maybe try a marmalade sandwich (some people think it works wonders) then you might feel better….

Still dropping with a chance to buy at 56.4 with spread of 56 to 58. Goodness knows how low this will go. Like others am very tempted to by back in, having cut my losses before. My lucky number is 44 so I will wait and hope for that to appear. GLA

Confess I didn’t know RDW shares business with Taylor Wimpey, so will now do a read across to see how they fare, albeit out of curiosity as only want this as my housebuilder share. Hi Viperbite, share your positivity as the potential in the bike and boat market are astronomical but the Indian venture was being shouted about over a year ago and it still hasn’t materialised. Easy to blame covid and other things, but this is moving like a tortoise in hibernation with a risk it may not make it thru the winter. Whenever I see Vic Kist on a video, he is pretty impressive and with the Sunderland set up too, what’s not to like? SP seems to have settled for a while, but this has stayed flat since the update 18/10. That sounded impressive and have copied key text below. So December is the next time we should get news = I will dive in again whatever the price near end of this month, keeping a daily watch beforehand in case it begins to spike up. I made a profit when it jumped up from 96p to £1.30+ and then a loss when it nosedived. Lack of information, radio silence for ages, then we get a great RNS today and it goes down again. Happy to get back in if it drops to 40 something, but the market does not like this share, how I wish it did. GLA

HI Sandgrounder, well firstly, I jumped in at £4.30 not £3.30…and the RNS incoming is obviously the results due tomorrow. Amazing jump up this week which bodes well for tomorrow despite media reporting house purchases are down / slowing etc. Even today, it opened 8 points down then did something of a super leap. Who know what tomorrow brings, probably stabilise at todays price because everything is now factored in but with this share, anything goes. I will make a wild guess and say results will highlight plenty of land still owned for development + sales booked for next year/18 months + RDW received a “best housebuilder” award of some type + projects/new builds all on track…would be nice to have more people joining in the chat, still can’t believe this board is so quiet, especially with their weeks increase. Thanks Sandgrounder, I agree, however, this week RDW has been trying to break higher, even when the overall market dipped, recovering from a 5 point loss to almost breaking even yesterday, when most of the rest fell. And today…we are happily jumping up
Have absolutely no idea why, but after weighing up the pros and cons with a friend at the golf club last night, including referencing your post about getting a business for nothing, I jumped in at £3.30 at the bell this morning. Goodness knows where this will end up, but having kept a very close eye on the price, I would not be at all surprised to see an RNS land next week

Couldn’t agree more. Backed to the hilt by Simon Thompson investors Chronicle, whose text has been copied on this board and boy, does this look solid. If anyone is considering investing here and hasn’t read it, please scroll back and you should be impressed.
I sold out of BP and reinvested profits here, nothing really wrong with BP, but having been lucky enough to get 22% growth, I felt that there is a fair chance that further growth will be limited by potential windfall tax + Looney has been making odd purchases recently + whilst dividend did marginally increase this year, believe it will be a while before another rise appears and don’t think that will be significant
Cracking dividend here and agree with others that I don’t see it being reduced.
Stockopaedia have also been promoting SLP since at least January last year, probably before, but that was the first time I looked there
General preference for brokers is to go for companies with plenty of cash, well they have that here don’t they…
Knowing my luck, BP will break £5 or even £6, but it always seems to fall back when it jumps up, probably because there are so many shareholders who take a profit, the war could end soon (hopefully…), so difficult to time to right when to sell and actually take a profit before it disappears before you know it

Thankyou for resurrecting this very quiet board. If you look back, you will see my previous posts where I confidently promote RDW and say why - am interested for your views for the best housebuilder share as see you have posted elsewhere.
Admit I sold at a loss during the last 6 months when this dropped and dropped and see it somehow fell below £4 when I didn’t buy in
Decision made, build a position now, as hopefully the government has calmed down somewhat and then watch it climb. Housebuilders have been under the radar with all the political fuss recently and with the stamp duty incentive and forecast of house prices falling, that’s not a bad thing
Let’s see if I have the nerve to stay in here if it falls again after I buy on monday…

Hi Dadean, I have taken my bike and those from my family to be repaired, excellent service. Have also bought bikes from HFD. It’s the quality service that brings people like me back and obviously then I may purchase other items. Believe we will see £2+ easily, but may bounce up and down to get there

What will the market do? Will it be impressed that production will start within the next fortnight or as I suspect, instead see the delay to the horizontal well drill to Q2 2023 as more important and the SP continues to drop
I haven’t looked, does anyone know what the original date was to drill the horizontal well?

Hi Caposoka, I did exactly the same, took a small but decent profit as was able to buy in at just under 11. Topped up too quickly at a higher price afterwards
I don’t see the SP fall as profit taking, more so the realisation that this is a long wait. Wouldn’t stop anyone investing here and knowing my luck it will bounce up tomorrow but like you, I see a gradual fall here and will be keeping a close eye. Similar to ATM, bags of potential but patience required. GLA
