The number of new infections per day has dropped for the fourth day in a row AND the number of deaths has dropped for the second day in a row.

Let’s hope that Spain has now got past the worse and that things continue to improve each day.

Sorry to hear that mate, my wife has had an appointment cancelled as well, it’s unfortunate but understandable given the circumstances, and given that going into any hospital at this time is liable to increase the risk of infection, cancelling non life threatening procedures is the better of two evils.

It was really bad on the tube up to Wednesday, improved a bit on Thursday and a lot more by Friday - the main problem was that loads of builders were travelling and packing the carriages out and of course loads of NHS staff were on the same tubes it was ridiculous and caused by bojo failing to state that normal building works were not essential !

There are still builders working but nowhere near as many so hopefully the coming weeks will be better.

The streets round here are quite and all the shops other than food shops are closed, so that’s good.

Traffic is massively reduced which means much less pollution, which is great.

It will happen here if the current level of restrictions do not sufficiently contain the virus mate, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that and that the whole world manages to get this under control ASAP

As I understand it the Spanish government will decide tomorrow on an extension to the lockdown period and as you say, they are expected to stop all but essential industries, i.e. food, power, health services etc. So if that happens la parilla will have to temporarily shut down.

The good news is that the Spanish are saying that they think they are now at or very close to the peak, and if that’s true then any shutdown will hopefully be short lived.

I would not wish it on anyone, so I wish him well but hope it makes him realise that he needs to take further action and stop all non essential workers going to work and spreading the virus

I don’t agree with you regarding bojo the clown and his puppeteer, Cummings, they wanted to go for herd immunity and where prepared for the elderly and other high risk groups to pay the price, they were forced to change tack but by the time they did they were many weeks late in doing so.

I wish you well, but we will have to disagree about the gruesome twosome!

That list makes interesting reading, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, all give the vaccine and have better control of the virus, unfortunately Italy and Spain are not on the list and so far at least like the USA, have a worse situation

I don’t know if you watched question time last night?

The editor of the lancet, a doctor, was very vocal indeed regarding the failure by the government to react quickly back in January and early February, when they were aware that the pandemic was on its way, if they had, then we would not be in the position we are today - he is not an armchair expert by the way.

He also quoted numerous NHS staff who had contacted him because they were frightened as a result of not having the correct PPE.

He went on to point out that the face masks the public health England provide to NHS staff do not comply with what The World Health Organisation recommend.

Finally, it has just been reported that the first doctor in the UK has died from the virus, unfortunately I suspect this death will not be the last.

Essex county council has just started to request that any businesses that have masks etc provide them for the NHS.

As I said clapping is all very well and the support undoubtedly raises the moral of the workers in the NHS, BUT, the NHS workers need the proper PPE!!!!!

So, all in all, considering everything going on with the virus around the entire world, the prices are holding up well at the moment.

Well the support for the NHS was really good in my street and particularly after my wife and I were drumming somewhat heavily with spoons on large saucepans as that soon brought out the few neighbors who hadn’t quite made it by 8pm ;)

We really are all in this together and I am not going to lie I am very concerned for my daughter working as a doctor in a respiratory ward with Covid-19 patients, not least because she still hasn’t been provided with the correct PPE to the point where she has just had to purchase two sets of scrubs off of the internet ! !

My friends daughter is a paramedic and she is also buying her own PPE !!

I’m fed up with the government stating that they have got enough PPE and how they’ve got it out - they haven’t and it's a disgrace !

Clapping for the NHS to show thanks and solidarity is great but what would be better is keeping them all safe by providing the correct PPE now
