CR - I've bought 3 x now & may not call a halt to buying, but I have not sold any. I would not be surprised if the share price consolidates soon, maybe it will just slow down but the shares are very narrowly held. Ultimately, Microsoft will want the best most commercially lucrative, state and country defensive, cyber defence product under their umbrella of product offerings. The imperative for them is that they need to put this together very quickly in terms of their own credibility. After the purchase of RiskIQ it looks to me that they will go down the route of an amalgam of the best knowledge & product companies around.

My view on buying Dark is that they will not remain independent for long. As you say right now there are a lot of reasons to buy, but only the spectre of the damage that may be done in terms of the Mike Lynch factor to sell.

I bought 75% of my RDSB shareholding on the 27th October 2020 at a price of £892.67p from a stocks and shares ISA. In spite of having an interest in income stocks that hovers around zero, my net dividend rate is around 6.00% & rising very shortly. My only interest in RDS stemmed from the early stages of the panicdemic and the RDSB shares falling into the £8.50pish arena the day after I initially bought them - this I have seen as the bottom for the RDS share price, which I have only ever bought following the dividend being cut by 2/3rds.

I am sure that you will be able to come up with a summary of where I am going wrong from your inane ramblings, which may prove useful so that I can do the opposite. Investors like yourself seem to target big stagnant ex-growth companies. If you continue to do so, you will likely get what you ask for.

RDS is slightly different in that it behaves as a commodity or two, in a market largely regulated by OPEC, with some influence from the USA and Russia. I have held the shares on and off for around 18-months. My only interest in shares being capital gain alone, and I consider that they are very generally predictable, and am actually quite happy with the investment.

CR - Typical Times invention, nothing to corroborate the ludicrous headline grabbing drivel that they often write. The Times is not the newspaper it used to be when butlers used to iron it for their master! No prizes for guessing why.

Dark has to consolidate soon, after an incredible run. The cyber threat companies simply don't have any obvious means of evaluating them and arriving at a meaningful valuation at the moment. They all have to keep ahead of the game, one hack away from a dissolving share price, and with the very low level of R & D I cannot help but think that Dark listed simply to reward the founder shareholders and put itself in the shop window as for sale.

There is no great surprise that the FCA are currently looking at improving the listing process, particularly with regard to tech companies - obviously with Dark as a case in point.

The London Stock Exchange like sensible progression through the ranks of the FTSE 350 & FTSE 250 rather than companies suddenly landing in the FTSE 100. The issue is that on it's current capitalisation growth trajectory Dark is threatening to do this, unless the LSE can plaster over the cracks and include Dark in the FTSE 350 & FTSE 250 more quickly.

The issues for the London Stock Exchange are having systems and rules that are fit for purpose, how readily it can deal with Tech shooting stars, possible tarnishing of image, providing an attractive environment for future international IPO's, the relevance of any major Index that does not include any company "qualifying," the skewing of any data based on that Index by non-inclusion of any relevant company, financial disadvantages to the company excluded, and ultimately raising questions relating to the IPO listing contract between the LSE and the company concerned.

Presumably the ROO share price softening is just down to the post-trading update malaise, and approaching end of lockdown being in sight. Will the Government no longer be locking everyone up and making them buy take-aways for entertainment?.

I agree with everything you have said FDH. Even in December Dark will only have a few months results behind them as a newly listed company, and the Trading Results for October-December will only be released in say mid-January 2022, if there are going to be regular quarterly updates. I would love to go along with the groundless hype & see Dark in the FTSE 100 in September, but it is not going to happen. I would go for March 2022 & even then it is an ambitious target

Joining the FTSE 100 after very likely skipping the FTSE 350 and FTSE 250, will be about track-record, consistency, length of time listed etc, even if it's no longer about the school you went to, the Club you are a member of, or which cricket team you play for!

8.0 Periodic Review of Constituents
8.1 Review Dates
8.1.1 The FTSE UK Index Series is reviewed on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and
December. A full review of the FTSE All-Share, FTSE All-Small and FTSE 350 Yield Indices will be
conducted in June.
The index reviews will be based on data from the close of business on the Tuesday before the first
Friday of the review month.
Any constituent changes will be implemented after the close of business on the third Friday of the
review month (i.e. effective Monday), following the expiry of the ICE Futures Europe futures and
options contracts.
8.2 Responsibilities and Reporting
8.2.1 FTSE will be responsible for conducting the periodic review of constituents for the FTSE UK Index

HKK - The Dark shares are relatively narrowly held as well, so that the current buy/sell ratio is having a greater impact on the share price.

It seems generally accepted that global human population growth amounts to around 83 million annually, or 1.1% per year. So that feeding the additional mouths is a problem growing by more that the total UK population every year. As has been stated previously it is like 35 people trying to live in a semi-detached house in terms of available world sources.

Trading updates are a great opportunity for a company like Dark, in a "Cinderellas's going to the Ball" sector of the economy at exactly the right time, to hype the prospects, opportunities, & growth boost from the IPO publicity. It can only be great news for investors, against a backdrop of today's news:

"Threat to UK from hostile states could be as bad as terrorism, says MI5 chief"

Dark will easily go over £6.00p/share tomorrow.

GF - a really interesting post. I've almost invariably over the years held 65% - 80% of my funds in one particular share. And occasionally 100% for a relatively short time. Also the only attention I have ever paid to dividends, is how the schedule impacts on the share price and my prospective capital gain. Essentially, if an investor obeys all the conventions, spreads the risk across a diversified portfolio, places equal weight to their share holdings etc I tend to think that they limit themselves to conventional returns.

I can trace back the start of doing this to reading Jim Slater's (famous/infamous heading of the Slater Walker Investment Bank) book "The Zulu Principle" a classic, but quite dated now. He did not get everything right, but helped turn asset stripping in to a national sport. Really all about focusing down on a particular share or sector, knowing everything you can about it and investing to your limits to back your judgement. It might have been on your Dad's bookshelf.

For Gazprom, a state monopoly, you may as well substitute" The Kremlin." Russia does not countenance any controlling holding of any of its companies outside of Russia. It is all about control, politics, power, disruption and influence, particularly over Western energy markets. They will exert this with price changes, supply shortages & even cut off gas supplies altogether as they have done previously with the likes of Belarus and Ukraine.

Anyone interested in exploring the Russian influence on the Energy markets should read FT Russia correspondent Catherine Belton's book Putin's People, it gives a brilliant perspective on what is happening both historically and currently.

Definitely seeing more and more Deliveroo riders around, Durham, Tyneside Northumberland, outside Subway etc. Normally I am up in the Scottish Borders once a week, and if you check whether Deliveroo cover the area, you get the message "We're not there yet! But we're working on it!" & they will e-mail when they get there.

In fairness significant distance, low population, fewer food outlets stretches the commercial returns of their business model, but as Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo mop up the cities and towns, they will end up fighting for the crumbs! Will they say no to some business? It seems doubtful when they are 16% owned by Amazon & they deliver to anyone and everyone.

While the Euros are on Deliveroos are coming home!!! A great opportunity to showcase what Roo can do, even if there is a dip after the Euros - the key is how much additional business gained turns into sticky committed customers.

Spotted them delivering to a Village Hotel the other day - might make the Village Hotels move away from microwaved fodder & produce something decent for their guests. Certainly looks like Roo are sweeping in to the Northern Region.

The dividend was 47c before the drastic cut, but the company probably views this as having been a millstone stifling performance. It is unlikely they will go back anywhere near this level of dividend any time soon.

Very positive that Shell will retire its net debt milestone/millstone of $65 billion. Positive recognition that recuperating & massive cash flows have changed the game and that they have much more freedom of choice in terms of financial direction. Whatever figure they have got to in terms of net debt, the credit rating agencies have most probably indicated a positive re-rating in the offing.

Everything looks really positive.

The London Stock Exchange explanatory notes describe the Volume figure they state for each share as:

" Volume - This figure represents the cumulative volume for the day i.e. the total number of shares traded during the current day. "

At the close of play today, the 6th July 2021, this Volume figure was: 976,682. Nothing should be added to this, it is the LSE proven and verified volume for the day for Darktrace.

Only a few seconds ago the London Stock exchange has the volume for Darktrace today as 938,954.

A cavalier and shallow grip of the facts is of little use to anybody on this thread.

Dark was listed on the 30th April 2021. It is a shade more accurate to say that they have hit a 9-week high, as they were not listed for 43-weeks out of the last 52!

FDH - You are right on the FTSE 250 inclusion process dates for September.

A Trading Update was out on the 19th July 2018 & I think the 18th July 2019, so I think with luck we can expect something towards the end of the next couple of weeks. It's quite a crowded market-place & pressurises the opposition, if a company can show that it is making giant strides in terms of progress.
