A break up would help sell portions as it would be easier to swallow but I would prefer it to remain in UK holdings .... even if it is broken up. As for divi even if its flat and SP is flat compounding over time would be fine with me. They have other options, selling bits or improving overall margin. It could shrink and improve divi cover although I agree growth in every metric might be preferable. A divi cut could be good for the company if they can re-invest to get a higher return but often they waste the cash. How many companies do share buybacks only to stop when the SP suffers. See RR as an example. Ideally it should come from fcf and be well covered but as this is a large company I suspect growth isnt the highest priority. Buffet doesnt do divis. There are arguments for and against both sides. Lets hope the plan works and some of the blockbusters come off even if they are just busters

although can you blame them. Im sure everyone might want to take pot shots. Then again they dont listen so why pretend with the shareholders

Dont look good on the face of it despite the optimistic comments by Hawkins. I suspect the contentious pay issues still having an effect. Still the SP has fallen somewhat so its a case of looking at the new numbers. I suppose market expectations will play the biggest part on any movements today. Oh how I wish they would get a grip!

Well they were making plans in case of an independent Scotland. An issue that has been said would be open again if Brexit happens as "Scotland" wants to remain in the EU ..... well so the indies say anyway. I think SL will adapt to whatever way it goes and there is little point having a knee jerk reaction although the SP most probable will. Use it to get some on the cheap! Even if it is a Brexit it will be years before changes happen it could even be decades knowing the way the EU operates. I have not really seen a convincing argument for either camp yet. Mr Buffet seems to like the low cost tracker model although looking at a 5 year graph this has done better.

I like my divi and can re invest it when it dips to get my growth. Often M&A results in overpaying for something then wasting more on integration. HBOS comes to mind although I concede most fair much better. As for a divi cut, it much higher probability now once the new chap starts, those kitchen sinks dont throw themselves out you know.

Some 350 new jobs in Derby being reported in the news and touting to run some small nuke reactors to generate power for the uk. I think it might be a better idea than wasting it all on Hinkley

look like they have been re-buying the ones they sold a bit back after the ejection. Sell low buy high seems an unusual way to go but over the longer term they seem to do well. I guess they are limited in some ways and at times the strategy works against them but somethings must work in their favor.

modsa, I cant answer your question as I know nothing about the system in the link except for what I read hence my question as many on this bb say they work for RR I was hoping for their feedback although it looks like its a management tool too and Im not sure we will get any feedback on that side of things but you never know.

I suppose some skills can be transferable and maybe a supervisor looked over his work but I suppose they have to start somewhere.
