RE: SALE AND STRATEGIC UPDATE12 Aug 2024 16:08
Tectonic have been going nowhere for the last couple of years (although to be fair nor have Kazera). Tectonic obviously want out of SA and they probably need cash too, so this deal helps them concentrate on Oz. In any case they will gain some benefit from the shares they hold if Kazera are successful moving forward with the NNR licence and HMS etc. Tectonic have fairly modest aspirations now, sadly (if I’d known that I wouldn’t have invested but it seems to be the case). Some months ago Brett was rather scathing on Kazera efforts to secure the NNR licence and the time it was taking, but clear that he had no interest in getting involved to help.
For Kazera they are clearly confident on the success these projects, particularly WHM and so the benefits are clear as their percentage of the profits is enhanced by the deal.
If all goes to plan with WHM and DBM, the deal will be good for Tectonic and great for Kazera. If it doesn’t then it will be good for Tectonic and incidental for Kazera.
Having first invested in Tectonic and then some time later in Kazera, I think that I have very little chance of getting anywhere near break even with my Tectonic holding but confident that I will make that back and more on Kazera. There is still a chance that I will lose the lot in both but for me this deal increases the chances of me getting a better return overall. That’s my take, I reckon we’ll know for sure in 3-6months.
