Lloyd’s has not halved in Market Cap in the last 18 months. Ignoring share awards and buybacks which when netted off make limited impact, are you telling us Lloyd’s share price was in the high 90s 18 months ago ? 72 1/2p more like so you’re talking cr*p I’m afraid, not for the first time.

What has a consolidation got to do with spending excess capital currently being used on buybacks on bigger dividends instead ?

What is the need for the consolidation then exactly ? What I (and perhaps others) are wondering is how the consolidation fits in with in with you spending money currently being used to remove shares from the register to pay bigger dividends ?

Let’s say you own all of Lloyd’s (could explain the falling share price) and you have this consolidation 1 for 10.

You now own 63bn shares less than you did have before, so your holding has dropped by 90% not 10%.

Shebur, how does increasing the number of shares in circulation increase the dividend for a given amount of distributable profit ? That sounds like something from the Corbyn school of economics.

You are using a net figure after taking into account shares issued to staff. Buybacks are unrelated to staff share issues.

And besides Cuckoo, the buybacks actually commenced on Mar 8th 2018 when the share price was 67.50p not Jan 2018 when you are using a price in the 70s to make your duplicitous and incorrect claim.

On Jan 24th when Cuckoo wants to use the share price at its highest - 72,070,202,434 shares @ 72.61p = Approx £52.3bn

Today’s market cap is £34.7bn having gone ex div. A long way off being half of £52.3bn.

Will you please stop pedalling falsehoods Cuckoo or better still, ask them to change your medication at the asylum ?
