Socio-economic benefits of the oil refinery

Firstly, once it becomes possible for Mongolia to produce its own gasoline and oil products at the oil refinery in Altanshiree soum, the country will no longer be dependent on imports. In other words, the country will increase its economic independence in the region.

Furthermore, the foundations for the petrochemical industry will be laid out with the introduction of the technology. Alongside making contributions to the state and local budgets, the refinery will not only create some 600 job opportunities, but also significantly increase the number of jobs available in the industry indirectly.

As the outflow of foreign currency decreases, foreign exchange rates will stabilize. And as a result, Mongolia’s GDP is estimated to grow by over 10 percent. In this sense, the project for the construction of an oil refinery in Altanshiree soum could be considered as one of the main projects to boost the country’s development.

A well test of Gobi Bear 1 is also being considered. Geochemical analysis of rock samples has given an indication of migrated hydrocarbons in the well. More samples are being sent to the contractor to confirm this finding which would give support to the log interpretation of potential oil pay in the well.

We hit Oil with H1 in 2019 and Gazelle looked promising i know we had delay's with land access etc but were Mongolia going to allow us to develop and produce knowing China would take a cut ? Perhaps all along the game plan from MG was to wait for Refinery cutting out any middleman ? Over a Billion on Refinery and 300 Million on pipeline Hmmmm they know full well what we have in the Ground !

Bearing in mind the pipeline is ahead of Schedule ....immense pressure is now being applied to PM / Petrovis ....

Route & Technical specifications

The pipeline spans over a length of 530 km, passing through desserts, and mountainous regions; as well as populated communities over nine districts, in three unique provinces. It connects the oil wells in Matad District, Dornod Province to Mongol Refinery in Altanshiree District, Dornogovi Province. The pipeline will be constructed underground.

The estimated cost for the Dornod–Sainshand Oil Pipeline is around $700 million for the refinery and an additional $264 million for the pipelines connecting it to local fields
