I agree absolutely with all the comments here. Although I am upset the price has not gone up as I hoped, I remain fully invested and am sure an increase in production will trigger recognition as Rak implies, and the the price will get where it should be.

"spoke to my broker" : I am impressed. How much does it cost these days to have a broker? Back in the era before personal computers my shares were certificates from a broker, and I recall he took a week to do anything and charged 10% commission.

The latter says (art10/2/c) that you should get half of that 20% tax back. But the trading platforms that are the real owners of our nominee accounts can't be bothered to get it back on our behalf. It's a disgrace that they will do so for USA but not for other countries.

This "could" is a very much overused word. Put all your money on horse races and you could be 500% up by next week. Conservatives could win the next election. Really a meaningless word that has no value of expectation, like the equally common "up to" or your "as much as". Do you *expect* (implying an estimated probability > 50%) that gas prices will be halved by next spring? I don't.

Hold fast, pop. I held, and looking at things now it is not so clear . I reckon I could have sold at 18.20 and bought at 16.20, so 200 is not any good compared with the net 240 dividend. Not everyone trades at the perfect moment, so for me I reckon I am happy to have held.

You do not pay stamp duty on dividends but you do pay tax. UK keeps 10 % and SA keeps 10%. The latter can be reclaimed by private individuals who own share certificates. If such things exist these days. So most of us in UK lose 20%.

I did that in the spring, bed and ISA, but the trouble was I had more than 20K TGA in the trading account! The ISA allowance is not big enough for TGA shares.

Richt9999 : interested in this, and looking at the computershare site it seems that I could start a Walkers Crisps trading account - is that what you have? The snag is 1.4% charge on buy or sell, and that probably exceeds the savings on the withholding tax. Have I got that wrong?

Majority Share holder buyouts are not the issue as I believe minority holders are entitled to an approximation of the current share price (though I may be wrong). What is of more concern is the company being attractive to a different person or company, who then convinces the majority shareholders that selling out to them for a pittance is worthwhile for the "majority". Perhaps enhanced careers, or increased funding needed for expansion plans into new permits and new areas.

As a small PI I had a stake two and a half years ago in Sirius Minerals who agreed that the then current £5 shares were really worth 50p in a compulsory purchase, which is what we PIs received. The resulting court case of course decided in favour of the big boys. Can I offer you 3p each for your shares in BEN?

As they often seem to be doubled up, could it be a transfer of holdings between market makers, with a small margin at the cost of the one running short?
