Yes I could not spell name. I think at moment they are using NMC cells but perfect candidate to change to lfp to drop costs and sell to larger segment. Huge moves to lfp as cell energy density has improved still heavier though.

This is how I see it it might be miles off. They buy and sell in a set period and use the algorithms to set buy or sell points. This could be timed a short as seconds or minutes .

They must have idea or a nod and a wink for these factories. Unless the view is just buy on spot market. This could be very expensive. My personal view is most of these factories are an exercise in grant money planning and most will not be built.

There is a new player entering the ring. CALB(china aviation battery) they want to expand their Lifepo4 production by 20% ish. They have to get lithium as well more pressure in the pot.

It's also possible that funds will flow back west. This will benefit western stocks still on a knife edge though.

It will be interesting what China does with evergrande. It's possible they will pressure the Chinese banks to help rescue then default on the Western debt this alleviates some of the pressure. If they do this the Chinese economy will stagnate for a few years. It's a bit of a pickle they have created also no transparency this makes it even more dangerous loads of scandal to come yet.

When you see all this stuff about replacement or better batteries than lithium it's all bull. In the lab it's perfect but to get from there to production is billions. The master Mr Musk said Tesla could spend a billion on research to improve battery 2% so he spent it on streamlining and vertically integrating production and saved 50%.Tesla have always said if you have something better give them a call and let the labs test it. So far nobody has come close to the 4680 cell on price of production. At the end of the day cost is everything in mass markets. Toyota is rumoured to have a dry cell but who would pay $100000 for electric Toyota Corolla.

The Chinese are the biggest user of lithium and it's a bottomless pit. The big producers of cells are pivoting to LFP batteries because of cheaper input costs. Tesla are going that way for their everyday cars. The high end performance cells will be the NMC type for energy density. Do not forget cars that use LFP cells need more lithium because the cells are larger to fit energy profile of use. Why do you think ganfeng is roaming the Junior miners it's national policy to secure the raw materials and lock out the West. When the Chinese start exporting EV with the likes of BYD they will capture the market in reasonable priced cars(they are very good cars). So the West better get a move on because big Auto thinks it has years when in reality 2 at the most.

If there is big need the last thing on BODs mind would be consolidation. It could become part of a j. V. Deal though knock a few naughts off.

There is about 12kg of lithium in a car battery pack of about 90kw/h if I can remember. So multiply by cars forecast and the big one power supply massive upside numbers are on such a scale it's meaningless to try and think to far ahead.

The share register becomes unbalanced between buyer/seller so MM has to slow down and is given extra time to sort out order flow. Normally happens when MM short on float???
