Reliance on Click and Collect is a concern if restrictions increase
Agreed. A trading update would be useful (and quite normal for most companies as they pass a reporting period end).
This has been highly undervalued for a long time now. They had to seriously address the executive board but that has been done now. So great model, with a top management team now in place. Rise today confirms my analysis so I have doubled my investment. This should be back up to 350p in short order. DYOR as ever.
Looks like I called this right for once ??
I like the addition of Gilbert a lot and they have got rid of some of the nutters. I am back in. Big 2.5m buy today as well I see. Interesting times potentially.....
“HUGE” director buys?!... Lol. Only after they sold $140m of shares at 1330p. They have reinvested less than 10%. You need to up your ramping skills mate.
I had the same thought Oracleof Skeggie
Good to see the market ignoring Winnifrith's garbage. Hope he's lost a packet on this. GLA.
There's "Crude" and there's very flawed. What about creditor payments ? What about investment in new cases for a company that is doubling number of case investments every year?....I am a (retired) FCA. Liberum did an excellent note 6 months ago that I managed to catch sight of (very hard to get these things nowadays unfortunately) matching realised profits to cash income (that is apples with apples) over an extended 5 year period. 90-95% correlation. Latest case they announced last week (£7.5m settlement) they received the first instalment of £2.5m two days early from what I can see. They will get their full entitlement by Dec 2021. Even on the first chunk they have made 12x their investment in cash...credit where credit is due.
Craig2605's story from the front line is very enlightening. Many thanks for sharing.
Troll reported to LSE
A little obvious: when envious competitor joins site to make one troll comment lol lol lol
Completely agree Carrie. And this is now on such a low PE (7x I think). I topped up today. Fair chance it could go back up to 450-550p ? Analysts think 680-780p but let’s not be greedy ! DYOR and very best of luck, F
Fully agreed Lee. The extraordinary economic support will have to end soon. The BBC and others have predicted 1 million SME insolvencies against a normal 14,000 pa. And then Brexit to factor in. GLA
What more evidence do people need that this is truly exceptional company. Returns like this have never been seen on the markets before.
We’ve gone from unrealised gains (as they built the book) to much bigger realised gains in double quick time and then cash to follow. Some very fast (like today), some longer but the 10 year payment on the huge £15m case was obviously a very one off situation.
And people used to think Private Equity paying 25% over a 7 year period was very good....
Agreed. Hard to comprehend the market pricing sometimes. GLA
Good top line results but problem with this company is that the Board and Senior Management milk it to death. Very telling that one of their top investment team sold all his shares a long time ago.
Had done well riding up from 500p but very reluctantly sold today. Nothing against Burford - just think the Stock Market is now too expensive compared to the reality of the Covid situation. Fearing a vey big correction soon. Logic being: Leisure and Retail etc cant pay rent. Landlords therefore cant pay capital and interest to banks. Banks big bad debt problem. Governments cant keep pump priming forever. All very depressing but cash is king ! GLA
Jammy - I try to use these forum for sensible debate. There doesnt always have to be an immediate money making angle. I think we all need to understand the key issues relating to any company before making (slightly more) informed investment decisions. I think PLC Law related firms are interesting. No one is "bad mouthing" (save that language for Twitter). We are just trying to ascertain cogent facts. GL.

My shares are with Hargreaves - will they give me the chance to buy my allocation of open offer shares please?
