IMO this has a little to do with Trump threatening war with Iran..or throwing `oil on the road`, trying to cause some `car crashes` in Iran/Iraq so he can send in his tow trucks to fix things- His weird MO-...There appears to be a US call to `get out` of Iraq because of the pesky Iranians- So its spooked a few in the area. considering they didn`t go in `14/15 when ISIS was running amok I can`t quite understand the panic...Which is basically what the allies and Brits are saying- errr What`s the problem??....But I think the uncertainty has spooked the market a tad...Interesting to see some of the quotes from more sensible people.
This from Oil report:
Iraqi oil industry calm amidst U.S. warnings on Iran
As the U.S. evacuates diplomatic personnel, citing threats from Iran, Iraq's oil sector and its IOC partners maintain status quo.BAGHDAD - Iraq's oil operations remain stable in the face of rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, despite the U.S. State Department's decision Wednesday to remove non-emergency personnel from Iraq.
According to a broad range of industry and government officials -- including international oil company executives, leaders of Iraq's state-run oil companies, Iraqi military and intelligence officers, and western diplomats -- there has been little reason to change their security assessment around the country's key oil infrastructure, and business is proceeding as usual.

Wouldn`t surprise me one bit if it emerges, in time to come, that some Trump enterprise was indeed trading before he opened his racist gob.
Boris? OMFG..
Vision? LOL!
Brexit Britains and the Cons certainly deserve a comic liar and idiot like Boris, I`m in agreement over. His handling of brexit has been marginally better than TM but there can`t be many (Cons) who have lied and misrepresented The EU on the scale Boris has- Farage perhaps, but he`s not a tory. His gaffs are legendary - From `**** business` to his `letter box` comments that have galvanised the racists and right wing. He certainly has an ability to annunciate the worst of ` Bungling Brexit Britishness`.
It was the thing that stood out for me in the previous interview. They are going to max the RSA (which is Tawke and Peshkakir) and Taq Taq- in the short term....Gives the best returns in the shortest time...Then you have Sarta, BB (hopefully) in the medium term and QD in the longer term. Cash is king....what`s not to like? I like it....
All while the gas in on the back burner due to inability to ...well we don`t know why- But perhaps inability to strike reasonable terms with the MNR and any partner? Plus the pipeline is delayed for how long we don`t know either- So make cash with what you have now....While RSA is hot in Tawke and Taq Taq.
`Good at finding value...delivering...integrity..growth....capital velocity..invest $1 and within 3 months you have another $1 back ...another 3 months you have another $1 back and so on...`
I wonder how long this will take to get to £5?
I guess with a TO approach it could happen quite quickly- But what chance of that? I`m not holding my breath- even though Chevrons` Anadarko TO will inspire others to look for bargains...It won`t necessarily be in Iraq..
We obviously still have someone selling shares, which is annoying- (which Turk is selling, if any?)...Otherwise this would've gone up significantly with last weeks triple whammy of good news. How long for ii and others to stay of the sidelines with c5.5% return in the offing? Couple of weeks or months?
I don`t think £5 is too outrageous a target when you look at what can happen this year. it`s only just over a doubling of the sp... I`m reluctant to put a date on it as it just comes back to haunt me when geopolitics or something else conspire to dampen sentiment.
But for a bit of fun, and inspired by the LSE weekly comp- I`m going for 12th September `19- Bottle of finest English bubbly to the winner/nearest date. Anyone else have a clue or wanna play?
6) stymies us from concluding free trade agreements with other countries.
This is one of the supposed great benefits of Brexiting. It`s cloud cuckoo land though isn`t it. Fox has struggled, as many `experts` predicted he would, to sign up any deals with the main protagonists.
"Let's leave with no deal"
Can you name every EU treaty we're in? Can you name every right that comes from EU law? Can you name every trade deal we're in via the EU? Clue there are 50 (with 21 pending). There are over 100 treaties that keep the UK working on a day to day basis.
No Deal ends it all. So if you can't, then you literally (I mean literally) don't know what you're talking about.
Screwing the economy while waiting for the EU to come cap in hand, as they were supposed to have done more recently just doesn`t make any sense at all. Luckily they won`t do what a small minority want. Hopefully..
JL,
I know nothing of racing but have a mate who knows a bit- For instance he picked Auroras Encore a few years ago- I only bet on it because i`d just been on the ship of the same name- made a tidy sum that year. He does tend to bet on quite a few- He covers them like you might roulette numbers...Anyway he reckons it`s wide open this year with lots of stayers...
He likes the same as you the fav and Rathvinden but doesn`t like the odds. His `good` outsiders are:
Step back
Jury Duty
Joe Farrell
Noble Endeavour.
I just go on the name so will probably go for Joe Farrell...LOL
Up on their website:
https://www.genelenergy.com/investor-relations/shareholder-qa/
Upwards of c1m marched for remain on Saturday. c700k marched last year. 70 marched from Yarrow with Farage. 5.5m have signed that petition which keeps crashing.
Go figure...
But if the result is the same, folk like me *will* shut up and more than likely think seriously about a move away from Little Britain- I certainly will.
Give it a rest boyobach.
NI was mentioned- it was dispelled by many, and still is, under project fear. Have a look at what Prof Michael Dougan said in early 2016- He was spot on with `industrial scale lies` by leave and the constitutional crisis which we are now experiencing. He also mentioned NI.
This mess is a direct result of being lied to by ALL the various leave protagonists. What hasn`t helped is the pretty much continuous misleading guff about the EU from the right wing rags over the last 10 years or so.
When Leave lied, cheated and made unattainable promises about what was achievable by leaving then they were also going to be made to look foolish when it all began to unravel. Parliament is dealing with it as best is can now.
Remember there are or were 12 investigation into what leave got up to at the referendum ...4 criminal investigations. Both leave parties have been done for electoral fraud, and fined heavily, and TM ignores it. How is allowing cheating to `win` good for democracy?
If there was some marvellous `win` by leaving then many would be up for it and wouldn`t have changed their minds. Even the ridiculous sound bite `taking back control` is busted- as if anything we have lost control in so many ways but perhaps most importantly as a leading player and influencer in the EU around the World. We are just a a laughing stock, Little Britain.
The reality is Kurdy oilers were burnt badly by the perfect storm of ISIS, PoO and KRG being unable to pay. GKP`s SH were effectively wiped out- It`s worth 2.6p in old money...So Genel did well to be only 1/4 of what it once was perhaps.
I think you are a little disingenuous to the new BoD. They have cleared the debt and are now trying to revitalise the `old` assets, coin it with the new and old assets and add some sparkle with the new stuff that still needs to be explored and developed. Genel has learnt the hard way, as have many other oilers, that too much debt is crippling with low oil prices.
Once bitten...etc
Going forward they are *not* going to get over leveraged with debt with a massive gas development. I think it`s a good new direction, and really good news. How many Oilers do you know that are net debt free? Don`t forget that the jury is probably still out re the MNR/KRG hence why there havn`t been loads of corporate deals, as yet. It`ll take time for that confidence (and corporate deals) to return- but we are getting there hence the divi......Besides why should Genel `give` miran away in some poor deal? it`s still there and there to be developed sensibly after BB, with our money and not someone elses.
With any luck The Gov will come to it`s senses and revoke article 50 before it`s too late. With no deal this mess will carry on for years.
Any plan May had come up with would have been lambasted by the self harming brexiteers, because there is no plan or deal that satisfies all the misleading unattainable promises. Boxed in by their own lies.

TM and Co should`ve revoked article 50 when the electoral fraud came to light and both leave protagonists were found to have corrupted the result, democracy and were fined heavily.... I suspect that they are/were too fearful to do that but are leading the country a merry dance to arrive at that point such that they are somehow blameless- IE blaming everyone but themselves....
The lies, misleading non-sense and unattainable promises pretty much make any brexit outcome unwelcome to those that voted leave. No deal would be fine if you could somehow sail the UK off and park it in the pacific ocean off Australia...But we`re actually stuck here 22 miles from our neighbours...but presumably leavers do actually want to trade
with The EU in the future? If they do- then there`s c10 years of this horse trading ahead and then pretty much negotiating with the EU on a daily basis., as The Swiss and Norwegians do now..
I feel for the youth and their lost opportunities. Such a pointless waste of money and time.
