Rainbow Rare Earths Phalaborwa project shaping up to be one of the lowest cost producers globally. Watch the video here.
They claim up to 80 odd design wins now, none of which are on the road yet I don't believe, but I imagine they are getting a fair whack of up front engineering fees across their 8 oems atm. They certainly don't seem to be getting much from the actual unit sales themselves (see below for example RE BMW)
Not sure of this has been discussed prior, but previous to the November announcement RE the additional 2 design wins with a 'previously communicated European OEM' , SEYE listed the X3,X4,X5 and the 8 series as current design wins. I noticed today they now list the Z4 and the 3 series also in that list. So assuming they are the 2 design wins for bmw it really is surprising to see a projected combined revenue of ~£850k for both the Z4, 3 series AND the Japanese win. BMW roll out ~400k 3 series a year so goes to show just how few of them must have this first gen basic DMS integrated.

Interesting wording regarding the DMS they have provided to BMWs...
I recall the same but I also remember when we first hooked up with veoneer the PSA group was on their list of partners for autonomous tech. Still not sure to this day.
If you look back a couple of years when they first started talking about it for the DS brand you can see the tech is mounted about the steering wheel (23 seconds in on the clip below for example) so god knows.

Rumour has it they invited all the kingpins from the main DMS outlets and asked anyone to leave who couldn't do basic human factor analysis. Only a couple remained, Lenne and some other guy who was sat their proudly claiming they've cracked face masks. Long story short, looks like SEE remains sole provider atm...
Only 50% after all their shouting from the rooftops and positive marketing strategies? I'm still surprised it isn't more tbh. We just rely on marketing directors as at other companies to let our cats out the bag and yet still worth 100mil. Depends how you look at it.
Slide 5 is fab. Considering we are veoneers only DMS provider it looks like yet another pathway has just opened up for SoC licensing goodness. Again not sure Xilinx will be a fan but that's what happens when you take too long not to pull out the cheque book and splash a couple of billion on a small fry world leading eye tracking company eh!
They are out of cash by the end of the year so Viktor is doing what Viktor does best; on the blag!
Maybe he means all the procurements SEYE have entered have been settled. So Wangping Corp, Fangai Motoz, Shengjin Wheelz and GiveUsYourIP Ltd. That's $563.75 worth of business we've lost out there so maybe it's time to up our game!
I do marvel at the effort those chumps put in to trying to drive influence from here. It's almost like we all hold a significant portion of the company or something!
Can't just trade the ranges quietly can they. Always have to play the fake news story. Shame.
Don't forget continental. I think they overtook Xilinx as the pre dominant ex employer at SEE! That said Xilinx were always my primary buyout source simply going by how well they could align and integrate all of SEEs product lines. But then Qualcomm happened. Would love to know if Xilinx was bothered by that or not.
Sorry *Fotonation not Eyesight Tech. Which would be via the Denso DMS. So if they jumped DMS suppliers soon no doubt that wouldnt look good for Densos existence in this soon to be booming market which already had question marks over it.
I can't see it being us at this point in time for all the reasons stated previously. That Eyesight (driver assist platform from subaru) system is independent of the DMS. Not to mention the current Eyesight (as in the actual DMS supplier) can provide many of the basic features we have done for years and is catching up quick clearly. So can't see them switching DMS providers until they need 1. Some really advanced features (health scan related stuff for example) or 2. Makes sense cost wise to shift to a supplier who can utilise the same Xilinx chipset they've just announced.
PM on his weekly conference with Xilinx..
'Oh yeah one last point, your marketing director confirmed we were in bed with Daimler in an article today? Did you not read our T&C? Only CNBC news have the rights to leak our customer base!'
'Sorry Paul we thought the cat was out the bag already'
'No! It was never official and you know we hate marketing ourselves. We've got this far down the road without announcing anything of any detail, ever with spoonfuls of over-conservative negativity so let's leave it like that please. I don't care if we have a duty to release information like this, let's keep them all guessing please.'
'Ok Paul...'
To requote:
"With our various partnerships we have 50% market share in in-cabin monitoring.” He highlighted one example, with Daimler, through partner Seeing Machines, is using AI to predict in-cabin activity."
50% market share? why thank you Xilinx.
Also, correct me if im wrong, but don't think I've ever read in an public article that Daimler use SEE tech? Outside of speculation anyway?
Actually it's not clear if the earlier forester just had camera based facial recognition, but the forester 'e-boxer' that came out late last year seems to debut their new DMS which is definitely infrared based. So I guess this is Densos system as they worked with fotonation and have provided a full product with infra red.
So it'll be interesting if they stick with Denso for this after the Xilinx move. Watch this space eh.
Just delved into this further. So the current Eyesight system's scope is only about those two external facing stereo cameras, and does not include DMS in its current workings it seems. There is a separate feature called Driver focus which is the actual DMS, only available in the very top models. It doesn't track the eyes and is purely reliant on facial recognition technology to detect fatigue (so it must be purely camera based, which obviously severely limits it's capabilities). It's made clear in the articles Ive just read both systems are a bit pants and doesn't compare to GMs supercruise.
So it seems Subaru needed to sort their **** out for the next generation hence the move to Xilinx and no doubt SEE some time soon if not already.
