Thanks GigaWitt, so it looks like Edison have been consistent, it's our speculation on here that has caused the confusion.
£200m is that figure - Discount - Legals - £20m for the loan repayment

Edisons forecast for the US was £200m-£250m, but apply a large discount for early settlement and this could cover everything across the world.
I'm curious as to why Edison didn't update their guidance for global sales or sales since their last estimate and my guess is that they still consider this valid for this new scenario.
£200m is the only lower estimate figure we have and people are shouting about what this doesn't include, but do you think Edison have just overlooked this? I don't. I think it more likely they consider this figure a good one. In other words, a downgraded amount for a settlement v trial, which we expect.
Any estimates outside of this are baseless at this point.

I'm confident this will go up, I just worry about the short-term cash position.
Longer-term it appears a no brainer.

Previous valuations attributed to Nanoco have been underpinned by lofty growth or litigation forecasts from display.
With this settled at a low than anticipated sum, valuing the business is much more sobering.
In short, the past is no indication of the future when it comes to the share price.

Sorry I missed your post Hawi. I think a discount on the loss of revenue model, which was indicated at £200-250m.
I'm saying less than £200m for an early settlement, then subtract funding costs at a multiple and the loan at 2.5x and I estimate that Nanoco will retain £50m - £80m perhaps. I'd suggest you consider that this could even be optimistic.
There was a big IF in that Edison statement.
Posters with more knowledge and experience than me have suggested even as low as £30m.
I'm writing off display after this, which others clearly disagree with and then we're left with the 'organic' business.
Some of you could do with watching some dragons den and see the conversations there about valuations.
You don't value businesses based on speculative market projections, you value a business in its present form based on earnings. Valuing a £2.6m revenue generating company at even 10-11x earnings is generous.
£80m/322m shares is 24.8p per share.

Hawi's logic is completely flawed. It fails to consider the amount retained and the discount applied in an early settlement scenario.

We know that's it's a no fault world peace settlement granting Samsung use of the IP thereafter, so yes we know enough to qualify my statement. It means that LG or whoever would have to sign an agreement with Nanoco that would cost money and wouldn't compete Samsung who just shafted us.

because it's very difficult to value the 'organic' loss-making business at much more than £30m in my opinion and this settlement will pretty much hand display to Samsung. Valuation is subjective of course and you can make a credible case for more or less than £30m based on other examples I'm sure.

All the best with your buy, I think there's a good chance this share price could go into orbit with a £12m market cap and billion £ industry. It's just a case of putting numbers to the potential. It remains speculative for the time-being, but if/when clarity is provided this will really take off in my opinion.

Sure, estimates did not cover the globe but with the discount it's probably safe to assume $200m - full costs and the loan, Nanoco may retain £50m - £80m. £80m looks priced in to me.

TM58 - You're right about futuristic technology for an emerging company, but Nanoco have been emerging for ten years now and produced nothing. This is the problem. As I said recently, IF Nanoco do retain a sizeable settlement I'd like to see R&D before any special divi, but I clearly don't think they'll retain enough to secure the business and invest in R&D.
