Stockcheque,
I don’t know who is worst , the paid derampers or the rampers on this thread .
You are not been realistic. All these cases take years .
Governments have learnt from the rockhopper case , where they attack projects from a financial angle rather than a climate one . As they did with Barryroe and it’s often the incompetence of the management that helps them ,again as in Barryroe.
Also PRD case is not as clear cut as you made out , in particular due to the statement below (From the year-ended 31 December 2024 results (published 15 April 2025)
“In Ireland the regulatory financial and technical criteria necessary to support the award of the Corrib South successor authorisation were satisfied. It remains the Company’s firm intention ONLY TO ACCEPT the successor authorisation as part of a back-to-back farm-in transaction already proposed by a Corrib gas field stakeholder.”
This , then gave the GSRO, the excuse they needed to recheck prd financials as per statement in the interim results (published 19 Sep 2025):
“At the end of the reporting period the GSRO indicated that the process was near completion but once again asked for additional clarification of financial information.”
Landowne oil & gas have a much stronger case and it’s coming up to 3 years and they still have not initiated legal proceedings because they can’t get a funder .
With PRD, the government can now halt any decision because legal action could be coming .
It’s won’t pay out compensation because that would open the floodgates for all the renewable projects that have also been delayed.
The puzzling thing is Vermilion. They are a very powerful company controlling 30% of Irish gas supply . They can phone up the minister or Taoiseach directly. If they really wanted to drill corrib south, PRD would have the licence tomorrow. That’s is the real puzzle .
