I actually agree, since Lloyds restarted the dividend lower than pre-covid levels. In Lloyds, case the buybacks will reduce the amount of stock in the short term, but the number of shares in issue will likely climb again due to new block listings for their Share Incentive Plans, and Executive Group Ownership Share Plans.
The only way Lloyds could meaningfully reduce the amount of stock in issue, is if they do a reverse split. Under normal circumstances you'd expect share buybacks to benefit shareholders, but Lloyds have already rebased the dividend lower after the suspension.
It hasn't stopped me topping up more in Lloyds, but it says a lot about the new CEO's attitude toward retail investors, who rely on the dividends for income.

People will never put party politics aside, Durham Police might have found the Beer Starmer incident to be within the law, but technically it was no different to Partygate, it still involved people eating and drinking in a group.
I'm more concerned with other matters, like concerted efforts by various Political parties to subvert the Brexit vote, which people saw through, leading to the conservative landslide victory at the last election. The truth is, most people mistrust Labour more than the Conservatives, and Labour have a mountain to climb to turn that around. I apologise for talking politics, since this is a Lloyds board, but I had to answer a post directed at me.

This board is dominated by posters airing their political views, much of which is totally irrelevant to Lloyds share price. I myself have posted on some of the threads, where I perceived some of the comments as ridiculous, and warranting clarification, but anything Lloyds related seems to be drowned out by unrelated content.

I wonder about that statistic, and it begs the question are Broker Dealers classified as Institutional Investors? Hardly anyone holds shares in certificated form anymore. I hold my shares in a Brokerage Nominee account, and have crest'd any shares, I've previously held, over to my Broker; Since my Broker is now the registered owner of my shares, do they fall under the Institutional shareholding category?
I don't know the statistics for the number of UK Nominee accounts, but I would guess that most Private investors hold their Lloyds shares within Nominee accounts, so the Broker will be listed as the owner on the shareholder register. Do the Brokers need to permanently hold the full amount of their clients pooled shares, or are they allowed to drop the pooled holding below the total client ownership? Clearly Brokers offering Nominee accounts aren't going to like Dividends, since it removes the flexibilty advantage of pooling the shares of their Nominee account clients.

Since Spain is a Nato member, that would trigger article 5 and would be considered an act of war. The 10,000 troops wouldn't last long under those circumstances.

Without a formal offer, I'd take this news with a pinch of salt. Talk Talk rely on other carriers for all their backhaul, Vodafone doesn't need TalkTalk.

Not on this dividend alone, but you'd have to factor in the 2022 interim dividend, whatever that may be. It is likely you'd just tip over the £2000 dividend allowance for the current tax year, unless you sell stock before the interim dividend ex dividend date.

That's correct, but if you're income is purely based on dividends you can earn £14,570 before paying tax.

As far as external parties are concerned, you wont appear on the shareholder register, since your broker will be the registered owner. One possibility, is that you've signed up to one of the free financial sites, and listed your shareholdings for monitoring, for example I've registered interest in various stocks on simplywall.st. If you have used free websites for monitoring/analysis, and not used anonymised details, it's possible other parties can track you from the information you've supplied them, using various online tools.
There are constant warnings about data protection, protecting your personal information, and being carefull about sharing information on social websites. Companies like Facebook say their data analytics are anonymised, but registering on various groups, etc, can give others access to more detailed information about you. I got caught out on Facebook many years ago, I was invited to register for shopping discounts with one of the big supermarkets, and registered with my email and mobile number, of course it was a scam and I was bombarded with spam for a long time after; I trusted the invitation as it was through Facebook, so it must be genuine, right? It was before all the publicity about Facebook's less than stellar policing of their paying customers. I didn't lose out financially from my mistake, but I was bombarded with emails and calls for a long time afterward, lesson learned.

What about your work colleagues, who may be sitting on large mortgages? Or are you a spam merchant, who's joined to broadcast your political arguments?

I meant interest rates went up to 15%, not inflation. Inflation was around 9%, but the BOE interest rate went up to 15% around 1990. If people want big pay rises, then they shouldn't be surprised when the BOE has to raise interest rates to crippling levels.

Dream on, there's no way BT are going to give a 10% pay rise. The BOE and the Government have been telling Employers to hold off on inflation busting pay rises. Lets say you get your way, and BT give a 10% pay rise, every other Employer will be put under pressure to offer the same. Big national pay rises, across the board, will cascade into a wage/price inflation spiral, with one driving the other. Under those circumstances, the BOE will have to raise interest rates massively to nip the resulting inflation in the bud, so your mortgage, or rent, rises will make your eyes water. I bought my first house in the 80's, with a £25,000 mortgage, and inflation went up to 15%. At the time I was on £9,500 a year with a meal allowance of £500, so I know only to well what inflation and wage/price spirals lead too. I can pretty much guarantee your mortgage repayment increases will go up faster than your 10% pay rise can cover. Be careful what you wish for.
