The securities of Newcrest Mining Limited (‘NCM’) will be placed in trading halt at the request of NCM, pending it releasing an announcement. Unless ASX decides otherwise, the securities will remain in trading halt until the earlier of the commencement of normal trading on Monday, 4 May 2020 or when the announcement is released to the market.

One habit I've adopted is to stay away from the SP in the first 15 mins of opening. For a few reasons: You get panicked if it starts to go down (do others know something I don't?). If the situation is serious then it's hard to get in or out with a good price anyway as it changes so much. I usually review the boards and the news from about 06.45 - 07.30 and then have a cuppa until 08.15 or so. The opening swings are wild and they can exaggerate your paranioa / fear / greed etc.

Hi Kbrooks. NCM do need a positive: their copper trade has slumped due to the slowdown, and gold is up. With Tefler reaching its twilight era then Haverion, 45km away, is an absolutely perfect fit for their jigsaw.

Good call that Spratt. Should hopefully see a gain today or tomorrow and who knows what after Thursday and into the months leading to the MRE.

I just realised that - browsing through what ha d come in overnight and suddenly back to discussions of yesterdays SP! Time to get my cuppa tea on the go.

How much has it gone up by in the last week alone? That's been done on the expectation of the 29th. No reason to doubt it will necessarily drop off. Could see another 25% reasonably that would put it at around 11p.

Apologies Spratt1982 - fat finger syndrome. The last NCM RNS about Haverion states that the MRE is still forecast in the 2nd half of this year, not by end of Q3. (01st April RNS on their site). Can you point out the RNS that says that they are intending to get it out by end of Q3? (I think it's likely - I think August / Sept possible). Cheers.

I think we could see a sale after MRE - Covid19 has changed the timetable for this project from NCMs point of view as they desperately need gold to diversify away from copper. I think that has the potential to really speed it up. But I think they will have to wait for the MRE first.

My forecast yesterday was to finish this week at 9.2p. Reckon we could beat that by a small amount - maybe 9.5?

Why would they start doing that now having been so positive about the previous updates? If you wanted to dampen the SP then you would have tried to be consistent in your reports. I actually think NCM have a bigger reason to talk up Haveriorn - a lot of thier revenue is based on copper, and that's fallen through the floor. So moving quickly to increase their gold output at a very good deal for them makes sense to their own share holders. Thanks.

I reckon 9.2p close tomorrow, and then 11-12p next week before Thursday close of play. After that hard to fathom - new range of around 15-18 perhaps? Then gradual move up to MRE - which I really hope we get some info about as regards release date on the RNS. Cheers.

The SP global report's a year old isn't it? April 2019. I suppose now the copper has fallen out of favour due to economic slowdown then gold still makes sense. Can't be taken entirely off the cards I guess.

Now calm down Mushroomkid - the restaurant? The staff sneer at me whenever I pull alongside with my trolley to gaze in hope at a menu far out beyond the reach of 'old musty' (my wallet's nickname!). I am still waiting to receive an invite to that 'club.' (However, have to look on the bright side - it could have been Morrisons without one GH!)
