Jag Grewal was taken off Covid sales I believe - we were told this by Colin at a recent presentation - not the AGM on the 15th but a virtual one before and I rmember it as I asked a question about this in the private chat - about who would be taking over from him / what the sales team for Covid would consist of. It was one of them in the last few months - prob the trading statement. I think it might have been the presentation on the 13.07.21 which is where I have a few screenshots saved from. Thanks.
No probs Bigdeal - thanks for the feedback. However, they do sometimes RNS about 'media speculation/comment' as they did when Innova got pulled, so I do think there are similarities here. Cheers.
We've assembled some of them. It's on the govt website. But not making the full thing.

The fact that we are now def assembling it I think is newsworthy. We didn't know we had any connection to SS before - although it was likely that would be the one. Confirmation of that now allows us to work out approx of revenue and production. SS were paid £25 million last month I think, which could equate roughly to £1million for 1 million tests if they have a 7 million a week capacity and are using that 24/7 (all from memory here). What ODX is contributing to that we just don't know, but it's good to see we've got some revenues coming in now.
And as for sentiment: news changes sentiment, as this did yesterday. Ergo, it is newsworthy. Especially so in a company where the CEO has admitted that things have moved slower than they would have liked and therefore should understand his shareholders are on tenterhooks.
Not price sensitive? Remind me what happened to the SP yesterday when this was known.....
Well I am surprised. I was thinking we'd certainly have an RNS today as the confirmation from the health secretary that we have been assembling for Surescreen. That was never known before.
blubutton - Monkeyspaw - I like it.
I was about to email Wallbrooke to see if they want to commebt on this - but I image they will put one out pending as this is new info that we didn't have visibility of before. Cheers
Well Oakhurst - thanks for your nice note an hour ago - I missed it due to a late lunch. Appreciate honest feedback. And as I just refresh I see we are up by 5% and we get name checked in Business Live! Now that's a bit more like it! Something real to get our teeth into!
Hi Bigbangs.
"I also think testing for flu will become common place and the indiscriminate spreading of virus’s will no longer be ‘socially acceptable.’" - I don't see this happening for the likes of flu myself. I don't think enough people would take it up to make a difference.
With regards to the end of testing - I do think other countries will need it longer than we do if I am correct about withdrawing it in spring next year in the UK. That's simply down to the vaccination rates. What this means for ODX products being sold in those markets is up for debate: lower margins almost certainly, but most of these will prob opt for Innova or whoever is already in place. Thanks.
Curreicneis will never go to zero. There's options ot arrest that - currency boards have worked well in some situations, although in a worldwide era of inflation it does beg the question of who to peg your currency too. Probably not Biden's dollar.
Wadogara - yes I agree with that - we don't need to sell at full capacity - just half of it would bleedin' help!
I'm afraid I'm increasingly thinking that the govt contract won't materialise to anything like it's total amount. I don't believe we will need LFTs or mass testing by spring next year as I think the UK population will have suffered such exposure amongst a highly vaccinated people that natural antibodies will enhance the vaccine's immune response, so that to the vast majority COVID will be like the common cold. I was intending to get out/severely reduce my holding of ODX by the AGM if no news came along, but Lord Bethall's tweet kept me here. I do believe we are owed answers by the company, and I still hold out some hope that we should see a rise on one of several newsfronts to come, but it depends in what order they come that will change my strategy here. GLA.
I really hop e that's the case.....
Hey? Somehow I doubt that. And no news is not good news when time scales have slipped so much.
I think at risk groups would require the booster first before trying to get the virus. That looks to dramatically reduce severe disease and infection spread. Thanks.
From what I understand is that being infected by a variant will give you greater protection against other variants than just the vaccines which are tailored to a certain spike protein. I think govt should start selling 'Covid sweets' that have a low viral load in them and dissolve on the tongue - take one a few weeks after your second vaccination.....just like those rubella parties....
Awzx - I hope you're doing OK? I think the booster shots are v definitely required imo - look at Israel - massive infection numbers but low hospitalisation. Dr John Campbell on Youtube did a spot on this yesterday - conclusion was a booster should reduce infection by 11x, and hospitalisations by 20x. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVtX7tY1B0U
What we need to do now is, after you've been double vaccinated, you should actually get the virus. This will give you a much greater resistance to it and variants going forward than just being vaccinated. Herd immunity is the only way out if we can't contain the virus - it's far too late to stop it now, so letting people catch it after vaccination is the best option. And with about 754,600 (1 in 70) of England's population estimated to have had it in the last week of August or so, then give it until until the end of this year and it will probably have gone through the majority of the population once over. Then it should be like the common cold....hopefully. So if you aren't vaccinated - I think you should get it done - the stats are pretty clear (esp if you are in a risk group).
Thanks Okehurst and Chickster. I'll check that back tomorrow. But if this is the case then PCRs will be needed again. I'm aware of Mu but I think it's still too early to say if this is a variant that is worse than Delta (I reserve judgement to change that once evidence becomes available). We hear often about variants but some of them don't seem to develop into threats (thank god). Cheer.s
