It is business as usual in some parts of Zimbabwe while President Robert Mugabe is under house arrest, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) is in control of the country�s state broadcaster and armoured vehicles are on the streets of the capital Harare. Companies such as Fastjet airlines are carrying on with business while ZDF soldiers are arresting what they describe as �criminal elements� and all leave for military personnel has been cancelled. Fastjet spokesperson, Hein Kaiser, said their flights between South Africa and Zimbabwe and in-country are operating as per their normal schedule.

Fastjet went into Mozambique eyes WIDE open and aware of taxes charged for air travel, I agree that they do stifle customer numbers but we can�t blame anyone but ourselves if indeed we have cut back on the flying program.

The people are already complaining of the airline @fastjet that for days began to operate in #Mo�ambique. Talk of delays, cancellation of flights, planes etc. .. Will be 2 version of our Later and Maybe (LAM)? #Mozambique

Fastjet is reportedly also planning to start regional services and Johannesburg, Lusaka and Harare have been mentioned already as potential targets. Mozambique for long made competitive air transport, both domestic and regional, almost impossible but the economic changes the country is undergoing has seen this tabu lifted and Fastjet�s operation is among the first to be given traffic rights to local airports.
