On the question of buybacks, I’ve just bought the Pru this morning. It seems a no brainier after they have mentioned they intend a large buyback. My thoughts on Vodafone, too much debt,ageing infrastructure, a very competitive low margin market, and an absolutely useless

board of directors. I personally wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.

I’m not sure on the point of market makers offering prices if their stock reduces, I was under the impression most of the ftse trades on a SETS based system, ie a seller is matched to a buyer. I’m not a stock broker but that was my understanding generally speaking.

share buybacks seem to be working within the tobacco sector. kenneth dart a large holder

who couldn’t give 2 figs about esg, has done rather well out of the process. it’s working well

in that sector because they have very large amounts of free cash flow to throw at the issue.

investors who have listened to all of the esg clap trap haven’t understood the business is

evolving away from ***s !

on lgen front the only reason to have money in this share rather than a fund as zac keeps pointing out, aside from the divi is it might get a bid from say a large american insurer, regardless if that bid got over all the regulation hurdles it gives the chance to cash out beforehand.

investors should broaden their horizons, cnbc give a very knowledgeable on investing .

Personally, I always apply the 3 day rule when adding to a position after ‘so called bad news’. Famous last words, but I’m of the feeling nothing supporting the share price in the near term, so will probably track down, presenting a better opportunity than today.

Nelson Peltz taking a stake . He perceives the business to be cheap relative to its peers. Good for shareholders.

Persimmon had the lowest build cost for years, other majors could not get near them. Quality questionable, you get what you pay for. I’ve been to a few Cala sites, they seem a more premium brand. Will the cut throat Persimmon model merge with Cala, I wouldn’t have thought it was a natural fit, but they appear to have no choice ? Has the election put a damper on things, will Labour pressure the BOE to get rates down ? A few unknowns, maybe the expensive advisors at Goldman will be able to save the day, and get the deal over the line.

I’ve just seen the ECB have lowered rates, that’s the factor in the rise of Lgen today I would say.

The house building sector is not in good shape at the minute, I know because I used to be

a supplier. Persimmon have no option in my opinion than to bid for Cala, otherwise they will

lose market share to Barratt/Redrow (once that deal is concluded). I can’t see Persimmon bidding top money, they are historically a very tight fisted builder, good for shareholders, not good when you want money from them. We shall see.

Thanks for taking the time to do some analysis, I decided to sell out of the QQQ’s recently, and even though I wish you both well with the funds, I’m kind of leaning to the fact tech is overpriced and that will have a knock on effect going forward.

Yes, it’s understood that Nvidia is only 3% ish of the global tracker, the point I’ve been trying to make is that as you rightly point out Nvidia's earnings have been explosive, what happens to the fund if the their future earnings aren’t repeated to that explosive level. Will the future level of returns become just a low level 4/6% investment, seeing as the Magnificence 7 can’t

keep growing to a experiential level, and have made most of the gains in these funds.

Also on monetising AI what I was trying to convey is that from what I’ve read and seen on CNBC is that obviously Nvidia and chip makers have had great returns, but the businesses that are buying the chips have net seen that return filter through yet to their balance sheet. So, there must have to be the question asked is this investment in AI going to be a winner, or will the cost of investment never be repaid ?

One piece of good news I’ve seen on the board over the weekend, is Persimmons so called interest in Cala. To be fair I think Persimmon have no other option than to bid, what with Barratt merging/taking over Redrow, they will lose market share.

Hopefully, the expensive advisors engaged by Lgen will secure a decent return.

I think it’s more than fair to say that funds have had a good run over the last 5 years. Nvidia has contributed vastly to the global gains. When your sat at home twiddling your thumbs and if you are old enough to remember the dot com crash, it sticks in your mind that the incessant belief that AI will be a game changer, and monetised, and that at present is unknown, you have reservations, doubts. Seeing as tech has been such a large driver of these funds and gains, a rational approach is how can it continue ?!

I’ve been investing to the extent that at some stage the bubble would burst, and value would return. I sit here questioning my strategy, that’s what makes a market I guess .

I do have to laugh when I read comments about giving Berkshire advice on what the company should be doing with its cash pile. Entertaining for a Wednesday. What would the great Oracle have to say, probably as always wait for value to appear.

At the end of the day a bit of advice I think they know their business and have been doing rather well for a number of years !

Jinkar thanks for the reference I’ll have a look. In answer to your question regarding holding Lgen, my take is that the American market is overvalued, the ft 100 appears to be on a up trend

and there is always constant chatter of take overs. Aviva was recently attracting speculation so one would assume that someone has also run the rule over Legal and General.

Even if there was a bid for another insurer the sector would perhaps benefit from any potential take over. So, it’s definitely one to hold is my view.

Something to think about.

I need to look at the Indian etf scenario. Probably safe to say I think they have done all rather

well and I’m probably late to the party. As businessman they are immensely sharp, so it would

be fair to say that you would assume that any legitimate investment would do rather well.
