The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Hebridean9,08:03. it seems clear, to me at least, that gas storage is now meant to be a stepping stone for the eventual storage of hydrogen. Fossil fuels will be dominant for the next decade as hydrogen tech develops. As IM has very obvious potential to contribute to greener power then the funding will be available from existing or still to be created bodies. Can you or indeed anyone on the board, back up your insinuation that H&W is in distress? I’m not aware of this. Also the new recruits to the company would appear to unaware also.
Well, here we are, January 2024 is now history. Thinking about Lottie123’s rumination from the 9th ult. what way will it go? There’s a distinct lack of interest in the equity currently, let’s hope something positive arrives next week to kick the cursor in the right(upwards) direction.
Going it alone is not an option. The revenue from one cavern would take eons to fund the construction of the next couple making the likelihood of a dividend years and years down the line. Not a good option for investors. Also consider the possibility of SNIP gobbling up more and more cash. A jv/ partnership, two or three way, with experienced parties is the obvious way to go. Failing that, an outright sale would be preferable. All imo.
It says operational by 2026. That’s the end of next year. Highly unlikely imo. Also if they elect for a one cavern at a time construct it’s going to make it much longer overall and more expensive.
Stokey12, 17:09. Agreed. It may be that they haven’t filled a large order yet , they could be trying to put off the shorters, there might be a strong and credible rumour knocking about or maybe it’ll just drop a halfpenny on Monday ?
Si Derman, brilliant thanks. This seems to date back to when government attitudes were that gas storage was un-necessary!
Si Derman, do you know when and why BP pulled away from the project? Ta muchly
I thought one was more to do with ‘spell..Ines’ than grammar!:))
Consuela, it means a lot more than your frequent misuse of ‘ which’.
Consuela, 11:27 post. No indication of being sour, not offering any opinion. Are you just bored? Still, it’s always lovely to hear from you, keep up the no anything posts:)))
Have you considered this board as the source? It would be a sounder proposition imo if TDF was back:)
Cheers Stokey12, time will reveal all!
I think it will work but there would need to be lots of it and it would have to be hot:)
Stokey12 , 08:22. Why do you think the appeal decision will take so long? I was expecting it in just a few weeks.
Si D, from your post. So, the prelim money seems to have doubled to £10m. But it's not clear if that extra is out of the £61m or additional.
And as usual, without clear guidance, that would depend on what you want it to mean. :)
Consuela will think £10m is the total value of the contract. The rampers and desperados will say definitely £71+.m
Normal folk’ll wait and see based on the £61m
All imo of course:))
Whene’er the fate of those I hold most dear
Tells to my fearful breast a tale of sorrow,
O bright-eyed Hope, my morbid fancy cheer;
Let me awhile thy sweetest comforts borrow:
Thy heaven-born radiance around me shed,
And wave thy silver pinions o’er my head!
Should e’er unhappy love my bosom pain,
From cruel parents, or relentless fair;
O let me think it is not quite in vain
To sigh out sonnets to the midnight air!
Sweet Hope, ethereal balm upon me shed,
And wave thy silver pinions o’er my head
An extract from a poem by Keats about hope,
Nothing hidden real time.

Tonno1944, that’s up to hmg. If they’d wanted them more quickly they should have made the tender incorporate their dates to suit requirements. Knee jerk, shouldn’t be an MOD reaction unless an absolute imperative which this situation doesn’t seem to be.
Lottie123, 9:13 post. I think the MOD will regard contract acceleration as their very last option. In my experience commanded acceleration is massively, like write your own cheque, expensive.
All imho.
